1 Background Cystic echinococcosis can be a life-threatening helminthic disease, which Echinococcus granulosus induces. It occurs worldwide but is most common in some parts of Eurasia (especially the Mediterranean region), north and east Africa, Australia, and South America [1]. Mortality of cystic echinococcosis is considerable in endemic areas. Studies report mortality rates ranging from 1.29% to 1.94% [2].
