The worst-kept secret is that things have been going south, or east in some cases, for the Pac-12 Conference the last few weeks. The entire league is on the brink of collapsing after multiple universities decided to leave for what they believe are better pastures in the Big 12 and Big Ten. On the flip side, the best-kept secret is that the Pac-12 is set to be a very strong and competitive league on the gridiron in 2023.

The Wildcats did however split the crown with Oklahoma in 2012, during the game's six year hiatus. The Big 12 conference has been pretty topsy-turvy over the last several seasons. Oklahoma had won six straight league championships until 2021 when Baylor won their first one since 2014.

Eric Bassey was a stalwart for the Oklahoma Sooners defense from 2001-2005. Eric played both safety and cornerback for Oklahoma before playing five years in the NF, one with the Buffalo Bills and another four with the St. Louis Rams. Bassey had some brutal injuries at bad times, getting hurt against the Longhorns in 2005, likely costing him a chance to get drafted, and then again during his tenure with the Rams.
