Recent advancements in QuIC-based diagnostic assays for sporadic and inherited prion diseases: focusing on the emerging role of ES-QuIC
Abstract Prion diseases are a group of fatal neurological disorders characterized by the accumulation of misfolded prion protein, primarily concentrated in the brain. The development of a family of assays known as Quaking-Induced Conversion (QuIC), particularly Real Time (RT)-QuIC, has revolutionized prion disease diagnosis by detecting and amplifying minute quantities of misfolded prion protein into measurable signals.

Fine-scale genital morphology affects male ejaculation success: an experimental test
1. Introduction Male genitalia show higher divergent and more rapid evolution than other morphological traits [1]. While natural selection favours genitalia that ensure effective coupling and sperm delivery, sexual selection is known to be a key force in genital diversification. Male genitalia and allied appendages that contact the female reproductive tract often evolve owing to the advantage they confer under sperm competition, cryptic female choice and sexual conflict [2].
Differential effects of low-dose sacubitril and/or valsartan on renal disease in salt-sensitive hypertension
Hypertension is becoming more prevalent in the United States and the world, and thus increases the risk of cardiovascular complications such as heart disease and stroke in the population. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in every three Americans suffers from high blood pressure (74). The likelihood of hypertension increases with a consistent consumption of high salt (58).
An experimental test of the role of male mating history on paternal effects in the livebearer fish Gambusia holbrooki
1. Introduction Numerous studies on human and other animals have investigated whether a father's age is associated with offspring performance [1–4]. Special attention has been paid to cases where a relationship cannot be attributable to a reduction in male parental care. In most cases, there is a reported decline in offspring performance with paternal age [1–3].
