Opinion - America’s oceans need protection, not politics
Here's something Republicans and Democrats should agree on: Major decisions about America's ocean future shouldn't depend on politics. They should be guided by science, stakeholder input and clear standards established by Congress that prioritize environmental protection and consumer health. Yet that's exactly where we are today. Permitting for open ocean aquaculture has largely been driven by an inconsistent and unclear patchwork of rules that weren't designed with marine aquaculture in mind.
Florida needs NOAA: Mass firings hurt state’s fisheries, hurricane response and more | Opinion

Presque Isle State Park, a jewel of the award-winning Pennsylvania State Parks system, also shares the lakeshore, its sandy beaches and clear waters filled with frolicking families all summer long.
Trump Cabinet nominee will put Lancaster farming legacy in jeopardy [column]
Lancaster County is family-owned farmland country. It’s home to some of the most productive nonirrigated farmland in the United States, with every $1 of product leaving Lancaster boosting the economy by about $6 — a value of $6 billion a year. This community also holds the distinction of having the most preserved farmland in the United States, with more than 123,000 acres protected, to ensure these family-owned farms stay farmland forever.
Prioritizing Climate Resilience in United States Fisheries
The impacts of climate change are already apparent in U. S. offshore waters, creating challenges for fisheries, fishing communities and fisheries management. Examples of climate impacts are prevalent across all regions of the coastal U.S. As ocean temperatures warm, species distributions are shifting. For instance, market squid moving up the West Coast from Baja California to Oregon spurred a harvest boom in the Pacific Northwest.
