What was your first job as a journalist?

Midwest reporter for Beverage Industry - a trade magazine covering soft drinks, beer and wine.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yep.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Raoul Duke.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Greener's Law states: “Never pick a fight with anyone who buys ink by the barrel." That was true at one time, but I'm not sure about it now.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

Any hashtag created by Andy Borowitz.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

E-mail.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Twitter, Google News Alerts, Google Chrome, Open Office, WordPress, Photoshop, Final Cut Express (occasionally).

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter.

Why did you become a journalist?

I love to write, and it looked exciting to me. Liked the idea of getting paid to learn new things all the time.
