1 Introduction Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common pediatric malignancy, accounting for approximately 25% of all cancer diagnoses in children and adolescents under 20 years of age [1]. Although modern chemotherapy regimens have improved overall survival rates up to 90%, relapse occurs in 15%–20% of children with ALL [2]. Maintenance therapy, which includes daily oral mercaptopurine (6-MP) and weekly oral methotrexate, is essential for reducing risk of relapse.
