In 2000, the New York music collective Wu-Tang Clan released its third studio album, “The W,”which includes guest appearances from other music icons such as Isaac Hayes, Redman, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg and Junior Reid. The widely influential and acclaimed group that emerged from Staten Island in the early ‘90s is known for its sharp lyrics and gritty production, imbuing its music with the ethos of Five-Percent Muslim teachings and expressing the strife of the Black experience.
