This past Tuesday evening, the Milpitas City Council voted unanimously to appoint Willie Hopkins as Milpitas’ next city manager. “I am grateful for the confidence the Milpitas City Council has placed in me through this consideration,” said Hopkins in a press release, before the appointment was made.

Last week, on May 14, the Kiwanis Clubs of Division 12 hosted the Garden of Hope Turnaround Scholarship Benefit at The Ranch at Silver Creek in San Jose. Hundreds of attendees from around the Bay Area came out to contribute and celebrate the scholarship program’s impactful work. Since it started in the late ‘60s, the Kiwanis Turnaround Scholarship (TAS) program has been providing scholarships to at-risk graduating seniors, supporting them in attending college or trade school.
