1 Introduction When non-wettable porous materials are immersed in liquids, they show a complex behavior. At ambient conditions the cavities are occupied by gaseous phases, either liquid immiscible gasses or vapor of the liquid. Upon application of suitable perturbations, typically pressure but also other stresses (e.g., temperature, electro-magnetic field, etc.), the liquid wets the internal cavities of the porous material.
