Parts of wall disappear in 3D
Hi! I have drawn a wall, and when i go to the 3D tab, the wall appears broken into parts. When i click on the wall, I can "see" the outline of the wall, but the parts in the middle are missing. I do not have any windows or doors placed, I simply created one wall.

Complex profiles Column x Beam
What is the easiest way of "joining" Columns and Beams with complex profiles like my example on the right? The elements don't need to be Beams and Columns, but they should be easily editable, while using complex profiles. I have a bunch of such frames in my project, but I need the complex profile transitions to be seamless and I need to be able to change/update the profile. Operating system used: Windows You can set the column and beam end or top/bottom to have an angle.

I want to show the brickwork in the reveal but have a door lining and architrave projecting at the timber panelled wall above. I tried solid Elements but that does not work to hide the lining below the plinth stone.. If I want to build the framing with columns then I need to turn off the lining. but I cant turn the lining off. Object is double door 27. Operating system used: Windows latest one
AC 29 Migration Library is not working
I updated to AC29 and library migration does not work. Anyone else having this problem? on the otrher versions i could do it without any issues. Operating system used: Mac Apple Silicon 15 Sequoia Hi @DanVelozo I'm not sure what your problem with migration might be, but I recommend that you review the following free ARCHICAD 29 MIGRATION GUIDE available in Graphisoft Learn. Best regards, M. Arch.
Archicad 29 Multi Slide Door USA Library
I did a search of the forum and did not see anything regarding the Multi Slide Door library object for ArchiCAD 29. I made sure the 29 lib packs were loaded. Looked under 08 Openings/08 30 00 Specialty Doors and Frames/Sliding Doors, but do not see a new Multi Slide Door library part. I also did a search of the libraries loaded within ArchiCAD 29. Maybe they are NOT part of the USA library...yet? Operating system used: Windows 11 Robert J.
Additional Free Text Column in the Schedule
Hello, Is it possible to add an additional column with free text (so that I can enter free text directly in the schedule) for walls and slabs? I use Archicad 26. Operating system used: Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Hi @369 I think you've done it almost perfectly, but you should have chosen the Undefined value so you can write whatever you need in the schedule.
Modeling waved railing
Would there be an easy way to model this kind of railing? It seems you (or just me) can't achieve this with the railing tool. 5 REPLIES 5 Hi @Bregt The key is to define your repetitive pattern using as many inners posts you need with their top offsets related to empty/blank horizontal rails with the necessary heights to match the wave line. Where is the sign in for the BIMx Model Transfer site when viewed on a phone?
I'm trying to get our site staff set up to view all of our models but when using a phone, we can't find the sign in button. Classification and Properties for Windows.
Hello, While building the door and window schedules, I ran into an issue: unlike Doors, our Windows don’t appear to have an ID/parameter field I can use to link the associated detail (Head/Jamb/Sill). In the Window object’s parameters, I’m not seeing an equivalent “ID” that feeds the schedule. Question: What’s the best way to add an ID/parameter to Windows so it appears in the Window Schedule (same behavior as Doors)? (I want to avoid do it manually on the schedule.

Best Way to Create Terrain from Surveyor’s DWG Pla...
Hello everyone, What would be the easiest way to model terrain from a surveyor’s plan, where we have a DWG file containing point data (e.g. elevation markers)? If anyone has time and is willing to help, I can also share part of the DWG file directly. In the past, I’ve used the Mesh tool in Archicad and added points manually, adjusting their elevation one by one. But I wonder if there is a more efficient method.
Need to extract X, Y, Z of Point Clouds in schedules - But how?
I am using the IES-05 Object Inventory schedule as a starting point. I am reporting on Objects only, which are located in the Point Cloud layer in my project. Fields reported in my schedule are Library Part Name (so I see which Point Cloud it is), together with the three 'Survey Coordinate' fields. I thought I was getting the real coordinates of where the point clouds in my project are, but it turns out that I am not. Anyone could please advise what the 3 fields are returning?
Something wrong with opening 2d representation
Hello, I have a simple modeling topic, roof and perforated with a new opening tool, all good in 3d, but it seems that in 2d is no way to get it to work properly. It doesn't want to show as a projected hole, not at all. I don't know how these kinds of bugs can still be so persistent.
Auto Numbering-Inserting New Item After Others Are Numbered
Our office works in residential homes, and we will often add or remove windows/doors with a revision. When working in Revit, the program automatically starts the numbering at 1 and con't, changing the numbers appropriately throughout the project- adjusting the element id by plus or minus 1. For example-I am working on a home that has 50 doors currently scheduled. We are adding a new door that would be D25.
archicad not saving 3D in view map?
Hi! I usually use Archicad just for floor plans and elevations, while we rely on 3ds Max or similar tools for renderings — so this is my first time using Archicad for that purpose. I noticed that when I created a rendering, it opened in a separate window. Then, when I was saving and closing the project, it prompted me to save the renderings, which surprised me a bit. But when I reopened the file, I couldn’t find the renderings anywhere.
AC 28 Explore mode strange stick key behavior
Team: I’ve been experiencing some issues with the EXPLORE MODE, which I initially thought was related to a button. I downloaded the new update today (28.2.0), but the issue persists. Therefore, there must be a setting somewhere, but I can’t figure out where it is.When I select the EXPLORE MODE from the menu or toolbar, the model seems to automatically step down and doesn’t stop. I have to press the ESC key to exit the mode and switch to ORBIT mode. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Archicad IFC4 to ArcGIS workflow
Hi, Lately, we've been exploring a potential collaboration with a client who uses ArcGIS Pro. We're looking for the best way to export from Archicad to IFC4 to ensure it includes all the necessary geolocation information. We've run some tests, but the validation in ArcGIS Pro isn't happening as automatically as desired. We always need to add extra information or adjust manually the location IFC model after importing it. Does anyone have experience with this that you could share?
Layer set in exel/open office
It is possible to define and manage the list of layers and possibly also the settings of the layer combination in Excel/Open Office and import them into ArchiCAD?
MEP MODELER | Custom Diameter
Hello! We need to do the MEP modeling of an HVAC project and we are unable to model circular ducts with customizable diameters, as they are always limited by the predefined dimensions according to the standards embedded in Archicad. While when we design a rectangular duct, we can define its dimensions as we model, this does not happen with circular ducts, which ends up taking a lot of time and is very unintuitive. Is there a way to create a "custom" field to assign the dimensions?
Complex Profile Core Only GO
Hi all, Other than maybe modelling the core and skin seperately, is there some way to get a consistent edge representation between a Complex Profile Column and a Composite Wall when applying a No Skin Separaters GO to a Core Only plan? GOs seem to ignore Partial Structure Display... I already have two CP columns here... Ling.
Cost Calculation Schedule
Hi everyone, I'm trying to create a schedule that will calculate costs based on the square footage of building materials used. I want a set cost assigned to each material * the area of each material = the cost per material. I cannot figure out what the issue with my schedule is that's causing it not to work. For simplicity, I assigned gypsum board a value of $1/S.F. until i get everything figured out.
Is there a way to make custom celling window ??
If you have any suggestions on how I can make a ceiling window, I don't like the ones in the gallery. Any tips would help, thanks. Operating system used: Windows 1 REPLY 1 Hi @j1234 I guess you mean skylght. You could copy one of the existing ones you like and edit it in the GDL editor, but maybe it would be easier to first take a look at one already made on websites like bimobject.: https://www.bimobject.com/en/search?software=archicad&fullText=skylight&page=1 Regards. If I select a wall, for example, it show me distance from another wall finished surface. If I want to use Distance Guide as my moving objects tool and I need to have distances showing from the core elements, is it possible? Right now I see two options from the edge (whihc is last layer of the object) or from the reference line (which is could be on the oposide side of the wall, for example).
Help - Client File (Remove Blue Boxes???)

Bug in Schedules when Merging Items with Headlines
I have a problem with schedules and I think this is a bug. Silly example, but let's say that I have six armchairs in my model: black and brown made by Manufacturer A, black and brown by Manufacturer B, and green and red by Manufacturer C. I want to schedule the armchairs by color and merge the manufacturer info into a headline. Problem is that even though items and headlines are merged, Manufacturer B is displayed twice, see the screenshot above.
Show more paper sizes to 'Microsoft print to PDF'
I'm exporting PDFs through printing (as in CTRL+P - Microsoft print to PDF - export) the reason being is that its the only way I can use my branding ( SPECIFIC FONTS NOT PRINTING). The default has very few paper size options. I've added the pages I need to the printer itself - but it still only shows a few choices. Anyone know how to show more or the rest of the options?
New employee Archicad training? (USA, residential scale work)
What are offices using for Archicad training to onboard new employees with either no experience or Revit transitioning? I've just used the basic free video course by Archicad but wondering what other or more intensive options are out there... Thanks! mac ACv27/6000, US full, Sequoia 15.1.1, 2020 iMac/2023 MacBook Pro 1 REPLY 1 Hi @proto https://learn.graphisoft.com/ is the easiest way. There are different Learning programs available for each role.
Annotations, counting and labeling all the beams
Hey everyone, I have a project and I want to automatically count and label all the beams on each floor plan. My problem is that even though I have 4 different beams in a row (as you can see in the picture) Archicad counts them and mark them each different but using the same number BMR 038 Ideally it should be BMR 038, BMR 039,BMR 040, BMR 041....
IFC export altitude
Hi, I am having issues exporting an IFC file that can correctly overlap with another IFC file (made in Revit) on a 3rd party platform (Trimble Connect). Basically, my model is offset on the Z axis by the value of the altitude (rougly 300m).
How are zone sort in the pull down menue?
Hi there! I’ve been trying to figure out how to sort categories from the pull-down menu, but I’m stuck. My main goal is to have them short and in alphabetical order so I can quickly find the one I need. I’ve searched online, but I couldn’t find any clear instructions. I don’t want to sort them in a schedule, just in the drop-down menu. Does anyone know where I can find some guidance on this?
Curved walls and floor slabs not meeting
Hello, I'm wondering if there is a better way to join these elements to be viewed seamlessly - the floor slab seems to come through in small rectangles, is there a way to avoid this? I've used a magic wand when drawing the slab to ensure it matches the curve of the wall. The reason the floor slab isn't doing the same on the first floor is that I've offset the floor slab to the internal face of the external wall. Any assistance would be great! Operating system used: Mac Intel-based
Customized drawing title with embedded graphic scale symbol
Hi you all, We need to create a custom drawing title to place in our drawing sheets that has the possibility to include the graphic scale as a symbol and that the horizontal line of the title adapts to the total width of the drawing automatically. I guess the best way would be to program in GDL, but maybe you know another simpler way. Any ideas? Thank you in advance. Regards. M. Arch.
Best practice to import a massive amount of typical 2d DWG details
Operating system used: Windows Hi I know how to import DWG files, even how to translate their attributes (mostly) to Archicad, but what if I have a huge collection of 2D DWG details and I need to have them all available at any time outside my template. What will be the best practice to maintain that collection in a collaborative environment in a healthy way? Suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance.😊 M. Arch.
Substract an elipse from a Zone
I need to substract an elipse form shape from a Zone. In the picture attached, the gray is the zone, and highlited is the area I need to substract. I can´t do it with the regular tools option I have to substract and add area for the zone. Any ideas? Operating system used: Windows 1 REPLY 1 Hi @maurotrotta You can draw the ellipse with the Arc/Circle drafting tool and activate Related To Zone to Zone Boundary. Then use the zone construction method of your choice.

Missing Survey Point Object In AC27?
Hi all, I am missing the SP object in the library in AC27! I am not sure if it disappeared in the lastest update, or if it has never been present in AC27 - I haven't used it after I upgraded from AC26... Is it present in your library? Cheers! Suggestion for wall strategy? interior insulated partition at existing uninsulated exterior wall
Doing commercial tenant improvements & house renovations, this has come up multiple times, and I'm wondering what do experienced archicaders do? There is an existing exterior uninsulated wall. We run into them as basement foundation walls or in tilt-up concrete construction or in metal buildings.
Edit / resize multiple fills at once
Hello, I'm trying to resize various fills at once within an independent detail window. I selected all elements and then tried to resize. Unfortunately it just resizes one element instead of all at once. Any idea? Thank you for help. Operating system used: Mac Intel-based 12.7.4
Change suffix of Zone value
Is there someone here who knows how to change the suffix/text after the value in a Zones value? The standard is to display the zones area (in this example 33) and then add "m²" after it. I have a client who wants it to read "33 kvm". This is the extended word for square meter in swedish. Is there anyway to change the text after an automatic value like the area of the zone? NOTE: I do NOT want to change the actual value (33) here in any way. I just want to replace the text after it from m² to kvm.
The zone area does not extend to the edge of the window
Hi everyone, I ran into a problem that for some reason the zone area does not extend to the edge of the window. I tried several window types, but that didn't help either. I have tried adjusting the zone settings, but nothing has changed. What could be the problem? Operating system used: Windows 1 REPLY 1 Hi @Attila Maybe it could be because the sill of the windows is too high and/or the wall is not receased from the rest (inset). Regards. - M. Arch.
Garage Door Trim?
Is there a trim that I can add and have show (red) for Garage D1 01 27? (& still have the garage door read 14'-0" for the Door Schedule) Operating system used: Mac Apple Silicon 2 REPLIES 2 Hi @architect I cannot see which library part object your are using exactly, but maybe you could play with its settings changing the dimensions of the frame and also the wall reveal type. Also you could increase the detail for the door Floor Plan Symbol in the model view options. Regards.- Arq.
Aural History: How the Peak of SoundCloud Rap Revolutionized Hip-Hop — afterglow
In the evolving SoundCloud landscape, punchy and auto-tune melodic beats became viral sensations on the SoundCloud landscape. “One Night” by Lil Yachty gained overnight sensation after a viral comedy sketch used the song in late December 2015. The song became a rap mainstay for its catchy melody, upbeat production, and lyrics of Yachty’s infatuation with ice-out jewelry and fleeting romantic encounters.
Details Change Color, and Fills Change Pattern Occasionally
Despite having gray fills drawn, details occasionally all change to a random color? And fills all change. *This image below is showing the color that it changes to, in no instance can I find this as the chosen color: Also, fills change to the same hatch despite fill type/building material being different than it shows: 2 REPLIES 2 Hi @architect, As it appears in your second screenshot, that cyan color is what you chose for pen number 104 (default description: Objects - Cut Fills).
