In 2011, western powers including Britain intervened to support the uprising against Colonel Gaddafi in Libya. Sirte was his hometown and also where he was eventually killed by rebels, supported by western air strikes. Now Sirte is where Islamic State fighters have settled. So far IS in Libya has claimed to have executed Coptic Christians from Egypt and also men from Ethiopia and Eritrea who were hoping to get to Europe. Quentin Sommerville reports.
