I read with interest Senator Mulchi’s letter last week in the Star-Tribune. Senator Mulchi is correct when she states that “personality and identity should always take a backseat to the issues facing our nation,” but then she spends the rest of the letter misrepresenting two issues that belie her patronizing admonition for us to vote well. Senator Mulchi states that “when Donald Trump left office, the annual inflation rate was 1.4%.” Has she conveniently forgotten our world in 2020?

I was delighted to read my friend, Will Pace’s hearty letter! I did not realize that I am wont to make “claims of wrongdoing but [fail] to provide any evidence whatsoever to back up [my] claims.” I guess I am a chronic ne’er-do-well, who tends to make wild, inflammatory statements, with no proof. Hmm, I think I know another guy like that, and he used to be president of the United States. At least I am not under three, soon to be four, criminal indictments.

You gotta love the new Affirmative Action Plan – Republican Style, as put into practice recently by the Pittsylvania County Board of Elections! This is how it works: Take a well-functioning Office of Elections, headed by a popular, competent, and non-partisan registrar, finagle your way onto the board, be so obnoxious that the third member (not “one of us”) leaves, and then be shocked—shocked by the “disastrous” performance of said long-serving registrar.
