Why did you become a journalist?
I chose the path of a writer because I recognized the immense potential of storytelling to inspire change and empower communities. My passion for shedding light on the multifaceted aspects of community organizing, social justice movements, and positive transformation led me to this role. By sharing narratives that go beyond the surface, I aim to inform, engage, and encourage readers to take meaningful action. I believe in the power of information to drive societal progress, and as a writer I'm dedicated to amplifying voices, fostering understanding, and contributing to the ongoing dialogue surrounding issues that matter most to our communities.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I take pride in contributing to the narrative that highlights the importance of community organizing and empowerment. One story that stands out is the exploration of how community organizing goes beyond mere protest, encompassing a broader movement that unites people to bring about positive change within their communities. This story emphasizes the significance of collaboration, relationship-building, and historical context in creating lasting impact. It underscores the role of organization in past and present social justice movements and encourages readers to recognize their potential to drive change. This narrative also addresses the complexities of individualism and challenges the notion that personal struggles are solely one's own burden. By weaving together these themes, I aim to inspire readers to engage in meaningful action, leverage modern tools, and embrace their role in a continuum of justice seekers striving to shape a better future.
