The Talented Tenth – A Dramatic Literature, By Richard Wesley | Black Cultural Events
Photos Map Event Description The Talented Tenth is a classic of Black American dramatic literature. First produced in 1989, it is relevant enough that its narrative could be set in 2023. The play borrows its title from a 1903 article by scholar, activist and social reformer W.E. B. Dubois, in which he described the likelihood of one in ten Black men becoming leaders of Black people by continuing their education, writing books or becoming directly involved in social change How to Register?

I don't think i have ever read that before and always assumed it was captured intact at a firing point by the Allied forces.

Corsair Training Photo - Information Request
Post by Richard Wesley on Mar 22, 2012 21:38:28 GMT 12 I've been asked by a friend if I can find out any more about this photo and a certain flying officer: "I attach a small scan of the only photo I have of Rosemary's uncle Graham with a Corsair, taken with the rest of his training wing before the were posted. This is actually a photograph of the original on the wall of his room in the rest-home where he now lives, aged 90, and sadly fading fast. He is 4th from the right, standing on the wing.

Dave Homewood Administrator Air Vice Marshal Posts: 54,987 Member is Online Post by Dave Homewood on Apr 7, 2010 11:10:42 GMT 12 I reckon it's time for a thread on RNZAF Tiger Moths - specifically, how many Tiger Moths are preserved in New Zealand in their RNZAF colour schemes, which ones are flying, where are they based/preserved, and is the scheme accurate to that airframe?
Pier Review: Time to make better use of Hong Kong’s Central ferry piers
Re-imagining Hong Kong’s ferry piers is an investment that will elevate the waterfront to fulfill its visual and economic potential. Given the implementation of the ambitious Central harbourfront plan, it’s hard to fathom why so many of the city’s Central ferry piers appear so shabby and under-utilised. There are ten central ferry piers offering thousands of square feet of flexible key waterside space in a key tourist and commuter hub.
Time to invest in the Hong Kong harbour
There is no time to waste on investing in a greener and cleaner harbour, says Richard Wesley, Museum Director of the Hong Kong Maritime Museum. Hong Kong has suffered terribly from the economic impact of the US-China trade war combined with months of social unrest and division. On top of all of that, the city now faces the threat of a major health scare in the form of Covid-19, also known as the Wuhan coronavirus.
Meteor NZ6001 - some questions
Dave Homewood Administrator Air Vice Marshal Posts: 52,858 Member is Online Post by Dave Homewood on Jul 16, 2011 0:05:24 GMT 12 The RNZAF took delivery of Goster Meteor FIII in December 1945 and it first flew in New Zealand in 1946 as NZ6001. It was at this time on loan from the RAF. It was first flown by Sqn Ldr Bob McKay, sometime in January or February 1946. In February 1946 six more pilots were selected to train on the aircraft.

shamus Group Captain Posts: 661 Post by shamus on Dec 12, 2012 14:56:07 GMT 12 The remains of Blackburn Baffin, S1674 (NZ160) is now in the hands of Don and Steven Subritzky. Restoration will begin soon to bring to life this aircraft nearly 74 years after its crash into Little Pigeon Bay, Banks Peninsular. The remains which are now at Dairy Flat are the only remnants of this rare aeroplane left in the world and much technical information will be required and has to be found.

Post by Dave Homewood on Jul 8, 2010 19:12:25 GMT 12 I just learned today that there are now no longer any Polikarpovs in NZ. All the I-16's and I-153's have now gone overseas. They'll be missed at Wanaka shows I'd think. They were great airshow performers. One of the I-16 Ratas has arrived at Duxford from Germany for this weekend's Flying Legends airshow by the way. This is Britain's first look at the type.

The biggest non-political domestic news of today is, the decision by ABC Entertainment to cancel ROSEANNE, its highest rated comedy show and also its biggest money-maker, because of a racist tweet by its star, Roseanne Barr, comparing former Obama White House, Valerie Jarrett, to an ape. Later in the same day, within hours of the release of Ms. Barr's tweet, comedienne, Wanda Sykes, a gay black woman how is also a consulting producer on Barr's show announced she was stepping down from the show.

Post by sputnik767 on Oct 1, 2009 6:55:00 GMT 12 There are so many things that could be said about the rights or wrongs, the despute over the ownership etcI find it sad that another piece of history has left our shores....I thought things had been tightened up to prevent the removal of artifacts from our shores....I had heard a rumour that motat had lodged an interest in this airframe, but it was only a rumour...

Post by planewriting on Jul 8, 2017 17:08:22 GMT 12 So glad she has been brought in from the cold. Would love to see some interior shots but I expect there's not much inside.Actually Baz I took a photo of the interior on my cell phone yesterday but unfortunately I must have moved as it is rather blurred so will have another go tomorrow. Today 2505 emerged from the hangar to be parked alongside 2539 and I have just sent some photos of the twosome through to Dave to upload.

Ferrymead dH Mosquito Update
As requested by Zac, here is a quick update on NZ2328-82, and some pics hurriedly snapped during the day's busyness. Incidentally, we tend to refer to the project as HR339 - the RAF serial of NZ2382, the source of the wings and most other components outside the fuselage - and the guise in which the aircraft saw active wartime service, and to which I believe we hope to return it...?

Their plan has a F27 and a Hawker Hind...where are they coming from? There seems to be a lot of junk in there like old aircraft seats...old seats etc...be better to throw them out and make more space.I agree that there is quite a bit of stuff that could be moved on from the display hangar the last time I visited.

Omaka's Bristol Freighter to run again
Hey all, I'm writing this to give a bit of publicity to a project of mine that has just kicked off at Omaka and involves the Marlborough Aero Club's Bristol Freighter ZK-CPT. I'm a propliner fanatic from way back and a member of MAC since 1990. Ever since I have been a member, ZK-CPT has sat, silent, on guard in front of the MAC clubrooms. Her preservation has been the focus of the Friends of the Bristol.

The fuselage one looks like the correct size but the upper wing looks to be in the right place but way too small.Hobbyvista's website shows the correct size.
