Interview
What was your first job as a journalist?
Syndicated loans reporter.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, but not professionally.
How is social media changing news?
Journalists are writing a lot more articles that are either based on a Tweet or about social media. Other than that, not a great deal.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I designed the logo, but that's it. I wasn't interested in journalism at high school.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
If you enjoy it, keep doing it. But if at all possible, do try to get paid for it.
When's the best time to pitch you?
First thing in the morning, any day but Thursday.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I'd have to pick two: The New Yorker and Private Eye.
