Russian heavyweight Boytsov dead at 40 - RIP
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by like a boss, . Former heavyweight contender Denis Boytsov has died at only 40. His father, Nikolai Boytsov, told a Russian news agency his son had died from a detached blood clot and that his death was sudden. Boytsov was with his wife at home when he suddenly became seriously ill. Emergency medical personnel were unable to save him. RIP Dangerwood84 and Chuck Norris like this.
Do you see any chance of Joshua making the fight competitive?
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Usernamehere, . I don't understand how a fighter who doesn't want to get punched anymore is going to win a boxing match against an elite guy. Also do you guys predict Joshua will come out big or more slimmed down? Worse Chin: AJ Or Wilder?
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Rico Spadafora, . Both are Glass Jawed Fighters. AJ has however faced much more stiff competition than the coddled Wilder has. Wilder was brutally KOed by featherfisted Fury and has been knocked down by very weak punchers. AJ has been bounced off the canvas by several different opponents and seems to have no punch resistance left. I think Fury absolutely can knockout AJ at this point. Thoughts? Conor Benn's Questionable Whiskers
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Zakman, . After his utter destruction by Garcia, questions have to be raised about his punch resistance. Only the ref's outrageously premature stoppage saved Benn from taking the inevitable canvas nap! Nah he walked onto a cracking shot I can't stand the Rat but he has an ok chin He just isn't very good all round PopPellegrino and Mark Anthony like this.
Fury vs AJ: Will It Come Down To The Chin?
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Rico Spadafora, . We all know AJ is a Glass Jawed fighter. Fury himself has been put down by very light and underwhelming punchers in his career. Fury is also feather fisted especially for his size. For all his many faults AJ does still have savage power in his right hand. Is this fight as simple as it coming down to The Chins of the respective fighters? I think so. Thoughts? It will come down to will they even fight at all.
Filip Hrgovic is a more talented fighter than Moses Itauma
Some thoughts: Fighting talent isn't just speed, accuracy and punching power: it is durability, stamina, intelligence, emotional control, mental toughness. These are attributes that Itauma naturally lacks and Hrgovic has in abundance. We cannot assume that Itauma is going to make major improvements from where he is now and he could easily regress. Mike Tyson peaked at 21.

Itauma vs Riakporhe a perfect comeback fight ?
Riakporhe is a British champion remember Itauma basically skipped British level and went straight to world level. I think Riakporhe would be a perfect opponent for him. Riakporhe is solid but not stand out by any means and it would have some hype with two British fighters say at Wembley or wherever. Itauma could grab himself a British title and some much needed experience and confidence.
Leg injury , Itauma
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by MismatchHypejob, . At first I was shocked and thought it was purely a gassing out issue. He went from 50% to 0% in a matter of seconds. He was clearly tired early on but he completely went there On closer look on those last rounds, there is clearly something up with his legs. Itauma is doing a pretty good job at not getting hit by Hrgovic, and is all over the place despite not getting really cleanly hit.
Whose watching FNF?
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Boom_Boom, . Wilder looks great so far. NVM now hes throwing looping wide hooks Until he hurt the other guy(who is obviously very chinny) and earned his respect he was getting tagged easily enough by Rabotte. Just because Rabotte was coming forward and trying. I think Wilder has some potential but I haven't been very impressed so far, he needs a Huge amount of work.
Could Wilder chin Joshua now?
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by iceferg, . Never liked either of these two much as human beings. I think they’ve now probably regressed from Champions league level to Championship level if we use football as an analogy. So has Fury most likely. Anyway Joshua always seemed to be the massive favourite with the press, given where they both are now do you think Wilder could knock him out?
AJ is shot
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Joeywill, . He had a good career but it's over Looked slow No punch resistance He obviously can still crack but this is bad Looked horrible vs Jake Paul and now this He’s always been a Mentally Fragile Glass Jawed fighter. Don’t let the bodybuilder looks fool you. His Chin is made of fine porcelain China. Your name or email address: Do you already have an account? No, create an account now. Usyk likely to fight Wilder next according to Eddie Hearn
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by catchwtboxing, . This has been at the top of Usyk's wish list for a while. Not surprised. Much rather wilder than Rico rematch. Kiwi Casual, NullaLexInk and catchwtboxing like this. Usyk is going to take a dive and hand the lineal heavyweight crown over to the Americans. That way, he’ll have paid his dues to them. OldSchoolBoxing said: ↑ Usyk is going to take a dive and hand the lineal heavyweight crown over to the Americans.
The referee did no favours for Usyk or Rico
Usyk was denied a chance at scoring a more convincing/emphatic stoppage. Rico was denied a chance of going out on his shield on his terms which would've gave the fight a better more conclusive ending. This has just created unnecessary drama/controversy which has hurt boxings reputation overall. Yes even if Usyk would've scored a 12th round emphatic stoppage people would've still criticised the performance which is fine.
What next for Wilder?
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Devon, . He obviously can’t jump straight into a word title fight, as there are plenty who have been waiting, but who should he fight next to get himself back into that position? Hopefully retirement but they'll probably set up AJ V Wilder. Jett Blackwell vs Rydell Booker & Fernando Cuza vs Nathan Bedwell RBR.
Jett Blackwell is such an 80s / early 90s WWF jobber name.
Proof Anthony Joshua never wanted Tyson Fury
They've probably ducked eachother at different times in their career tbqh. The fight will happen i suspect, but the shame of it is that it's happening well past their respective peaks. Even if it happened tomorrow it's well past the hour. It should have happened 8 or more years ago. Personally I dont even care at this point. One fighter whose body appears shot to bits vs a mental midget who was never as good as the hype to begin with. I'm passed it.
Gerry Cooney vs Mike Weaver Why Did The Fight Not Happen?
I was going back through some of my Boxing DVD's yesterday and saw two instances where Conney said he was going to fight Weaver for the WBA belt. One was after he brutally KOed Norton he and his manager(s) said Weaver was next they already had a contract drawn up. Another was after Holmes KOed Leon Spinks Cooney was in the arena and there was a hilarious scuffle between Cooney, Holmes, and Howard Cosell where Cooney again says he is to fight Weaver.
How would Francis Ngannou have fared if he had come to boxing instead?
If you know much about Ngannou, you'll know that MMA was something he never had planned. He dreamt of becoming a boxer ever since he was a kid. Mike Tyson was his idol. When he finally arrived in France from Cameroon, after a truly incredible and dangerous journey, it was an MMA coach who noticed him and convinced him to switch to MMA. Ngannou didn't even know what it was at first.
Did Ken Norton drive a Norton?
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by mr. magoo, . I was wondering if Norton liked Norton's This content is protected This content is protected A very old ring magazine article about Ken, before he became champ, pictured him on a moterbike with his, at the time, young son - so technically speaking, irrespective of the make of the bike, Ken Norton did drive a Norton !! Enzo Maccarinelli to be inducted into the British Boxing Hall of Fame class of 2026
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by IntentionalButt, . Good for him, honestly, well deserved. Exciting fighter win or lose, and achieved all you could ask for at domestic level. Big Mac just announced it on his social media with a picture of the letter from John Conteh et al at the BBBHOF an hour ago. He's absolutely chuffed, as you'd expect. I’d say he’s deserving. Was never in a boring fight that I can remember. He either knocked someone out or got knocked out.
Jack Johnson (of Ketchel fight) vs. Jack Dempsey (of Willard fight)
Johnson can run but he can’t hide. He wouldn’t have his typical size advantage that he had over many of his opponents. Wouldn’t be able to get away with the excessive clinching either. Dempsey would pressure him, stalk him, and close the distance in the later rounds. Late round KO for Dempsey. Click to expand... Dempsey's vaunted inside game wasn't so devastating against Brennan, Gibbons, and Sharkey. He wore those guys down, but it took a while.
40 year old Vitali Klitschko vs prime Anthony Joshua
Vitali doesn't have enough of a pop to trouble AJ, who only seems to have life and death problems with big punchers. The workrate would kill him tho. I'd go with Vitali by clear UD like Usyk in their first fight.
Triple Quit Triple Knee
He has No Chin. None. Thats his problem. These excuses are becoming laughable
Alexander Povetkin vs Samuel Peter is on!!!
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Vincent Gottschalk, . Thats the word on the steets :yep Who do guys think win this Jan fight?:huh Styles make fights. Peter actually has a chance to KO the inmobile Povetkin. woohoo! hopefully a lean povetkin and a lean peter. this could actually be a good heavy weight ruck! You forgot to include "Peter by illegal blow" on the poll.
24 years ago today Hasim Rahman shatters Lennox Lewis glass chin
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Oncee, . This content is protected Rahman did good for himself considering he didn’t really start seriously boxing until he was about 20. His corner advice in the rematch was abysmal “just keep your arms out when he gets close to you” Rahman ended up getting his Glass Jaw shattered. Then Lewis proved he was the better man by destroying him in the rematch. Your name or email address: Do you already have an account? No, create an account now.
Johnny DuPlooy?
I guess I'm as qualified as anyone to talk about him, as I saw 90% of his fights. He had ability, but remained an enigma in a way. Most seasoned scribed here had him as having an abundance of natural ability, moreso than maybe anyone since Coetzee. Du Plooy was a man of many contradictions. He could look great, or look like crap. He could come in focussed and fit, or he could fight with a spare tyre around his waist.
Who was more talented: Audley Harrison or David Price? Poll
Clearly, as an amateur, Audley Harrison was far superior. Alexei Lezin was a ferocious amateur and two-time Olympian. (In the amateurs, Levin beat Wlad twice, Valuev and Povetkin.) Harrison knocked off Levin in the opening bout of the 2000 Olympics. In the finals, Harrison stopped another two-time Olympian Dildabekov. Price, on the other hand, lost to most names he fought as an amateur, often more than once. Helenius owned him in the amateurs. Stiverne stopped him.
Anthony Joshua's path forward?
I imagine they are all busting a nut trying to make the Fury fight, shame AJ isn't pushing hard for a Dubois rematch
Glen Johnson
Can we have more appreciation for this fella.. Here's a list of some of the fighters he faced over a 22 year career spanning 77 fights right up until his mid 40s: Hopkins, Gonzalez, Harding, Woods X3, RJJ, Tarver X2, Hall, Griffin, Dawson X2, Cloud, Bute, Froch, Otke, Sosa, Harmon, Branco, Hall, Kiwanuka, Fonfara, Groves, Makabu, Mack, Green etc.. Rarely in a boring fight, robbed on quite a few occasions too.. granite chin, solid puncher, sound fundamentals, fight anyone anywhere..
Prime Joyce vs Fury
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Can I box, . If Joyce faced Fury at the Tottenham stadium in December 2022 instead of it being Chisora who would have won? Doesn’t matter. Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Anthony Joshua is considering fighting Deontay Wilder next.
Agreed. Is it six years past the sell by date? Of course. Are they both battered shells of their former selves? Again, yes. Now the real question... Will ONE of them ****ing retire after this? I see no point in continuing when the only prize they are likely to received is advanced parkinson's.
Oleksandr Usyk's 2025
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by MaccaveliMacc, . Usyk said he will still be fighting in 2025 wanting to have 1-2 more fights. Do you think he will end 2025 still unbeaten? If no, who do you think takes his crown? Looking at his top contenders now, let's give them a % chance to beat the king. For me it would be: Dubois - 45% Parker - 35% Kabayel - 40% Zhang - 25% Bakole - 30% Zhang due to his savage power and even then I don’t think he has a great chance.
AJ: The return of Don Michael Corleone
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by African Cobra, . AJ will return and become Capo di Tutti i Capi( Boss of all Bosses) just like the great Don Michael Corleone: This content is protected AJ vs Wilder. 2027 Hope AJ takes a soft touch and clears his head if comes back. Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury vs Jarrell Miller sparring
I know a lot of people say now that Wilder was always over rated and I personally wouldn't rank him in the top 10 of active fighters at heavyweight. But I remember not too long ago a bit of back and forth between Wilder and Miller where it was more or less accepted by both sides that Wilder had knocked Miller out in sparring.
“excuses” for poor performance you judged harshly but changed your tune on
What made me think of this was David Haye’s mentioning his in grown toe nail against Klitschko. At the time I was a teenager, and I thought it was such a sissy excuse for a poor performance. In hindsight, with growing older and several ingrown toenails and some surgical operations to fix them, trying to fight with a bad one could certainly hamper performance. I’m not saying he would have beaten Wlad or even that it’s validated - who knows if it’s true..
Happy Birthday Deontay Wilder!

Beterbiev vs Bivol / Vitali Klitschko vs Byrd
I see a lot of similarities between the two fights. One fighter is way more active, throws more, lands a bit more, is an agressor and applies constant pressure. His opponent circles the ring looking to box on the backfoot, makes his opponent miss and fires eye catching counters that back him up. He's also way more efficient with his shot selection. And yet the common narrative is: Klitschko dominated the fight, but Beterbiev maybe didn't deserve to win.

Haye from Chisora fight vs Usyk
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by BoxingViewer, . Chisora gave Usyk nightmares and many people felt Chisora won. David Haye destroyed a younger, more fresh version of Chisora in devastating fashion in 5 rounds, so how do you see this one going? Usyk jabs Haye all over the shop Feet too good Chisora bulldozed at full pace for 4 rounds then blew out. Usyk didn't really struggle. Just knew he had to wait out the storm. Trevor Berbick vs Gerry Cooney
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by mr. magoo, . At their best and let’s say 10 rounds. What do you think ? Great post. I've wondered off and on how this would turn out, and it would be no yawner for sure. Cooney dominates the early rounds, Berbick sweeps the last rounds, and there's a lot of see-sawing in between. Both hit hard, but Cooney's power seemed to go into effect much quicker. I would say for sheer stamina and durability that Berbick wins a decision.
AJ vs Dubois most likely in September At Wembley(Poll included)
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by lordlosh, . Most likely, with the only question will it be for the full IBF HW title or not. How you got this one guys? I got AJ inside 3 rounds, maybe even 1st. round stoppage if Dubois is as an aggressive and open as he was against Hrgovic. I do think this is a bad style match up for Dubois. AJ by KO in 6. We have to appreciate prime Deontay Wilder was one of the hardest hitters in boxing history
This content is protected This content is protected There's a lot of negativity towards Wilder, he says some outlandish things, however I think we can all agree that in his prime, his power with that right hand is incredible. Many people including boxers have even said Wilder is the hardest hitter in history. I can't comment exactly, but from my point of view only Tyson is comparable. But as a single shot, I don't know which boxers could be ahead of prime Wilder.

Folks, Big Bang Zhang Will KO Fury
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Rico Spadafora, . You heard it here first. I predicted a Zhang win in first Joyce fight. It happened. I predicted a savage KO in rematch. It happened. Now, I’m telling you that Zhang will shatter Fury’s Chin into a million pieces in any arena in The UK. Doesn’t matter which one. Big Bang Zhang is on a mission. The Heavyweight Championship is his destiny. Wait and see. Better prediction: Fury won't fight Zhang.
