NT Football League umpires say they are leaving the league due to what one coach has called a "broken" relationship between the umpires association and AFLNT. The proportion of umpires coming from interstate has grown to 19 per cent, while clubs are regularly being asked to provide their own volunteer umpires for games. Following a meeting earlier this month in an effort to rebuild bridges, the union says it "remains confident in coming to a beneficial agreement with the AFLNT".

Passenger dies and child seriously injured in east Victorian crash

A woman has died and a child has been flown to hospital after a single-vehicle crash in Victoria's east. Police say the car was travelling along the Rosedale-Flynns Creek Road before 8 o'clock on Monday night, when it ran off the road and into trees. A female passenger died at the scene and a child was flown to hospital. The male driver of the car was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is under police guard.

A 20-year-old man has been charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed a 38-year-old man in Victoria's east at the weekend. Key points: Spencer Shumski, 20, has been charged with the alleged murder of Clinton Allen Police allege Mr Allen was stabbed on Saturday night Mr Shumski's case was mentioned in Sale Magistrates Court this morning Police were called to the intersection of York and MacAlister streets, outside the Criterion Hotel in Sale, about 1am on Sunday.
