OpenAI results added to GitHub today: Local smoothing for the Euclidean wave equation. The proof uses an auxiliary partial differential equation to establish Sogge’s local smoothing for waves in every spatial dimension at least two. It also yields the Kakeya maximal and dimension conjectures and Stein’s spherical restriction estimates throughout the interior of the conjectured range. We are releasing the model output directly, as we did in our October 6 release.

TikTok has started censoring searches for popular peptides
Trying to pull up information for certain peptides on TikTok is now returning a “no results found” page when searching for terms like semaglutide, BPC-157, retratutide, and others. That hasn’t entirely erased visibility on TikTok for peptides, which are combinations of amino acids that include substances like insulin and GLP-1.
That was quick.

For creators, this should mean you see on average more reach to your followers.” He didn’t specify when the algorithm change took effect, but I have an idea.

Anthropic’s Frontier Red Team suggests some AI models “may be months away from being capable enough to self-replicate.”
It’s uncertain exactly what form autonomous AI replication will take. It could be a slow, distributed “digital slime mold,” living on relatively insecure compute. It could also be a powerful cyber model that breaches datacenters at a high pace, or a model that scams people for compute credits.

Microsoft launches its new AI model for making decisions quickly.
Posted Oct 9, 2026 at 10:21 PM UTC Microsoft launches its new AI model for making decisions quickly. Laura Reiley on Sam Altman’s “unsatisfying” Vanity Fair interview answer.
Altman claiming the privacy high road is a little rich. Companies like Google, Meta, and now OpenAI earn revenue from advertising that depends on extensive use of personal information. And Altman’s assertion that experts “aren’t sure what to do” is either disingenuous or misinformed. Part of our collective mounting dread is that this technology is far outstripping the ability, access, and time required to study its effects on human beings.

Another tech worker has resigned over concerns that “AI is already progressing too fast.”
However, I am not convinced the chance of ASI doom is 100%. Rather, I think the risk is real but uncertain… I’m also very concerned about other AI-related issues: cognitive surrender, AI-induced psychosis and loneliness, power concentration, economic disruption, cybersecurity, lack of accountability, and so on

Here and after officially called “super intelligence,” changing the name, and that the use of the word artificial makes intelligence fake. It makes it sound fake, and it is not fake. It’s actually amazing. But we have to be careful. In fact, it is exactly the opposite of what it purports.

For owners of either the Light Phone III or the upcoming Light Flip, they can use it to find pick up / drop off locations, see fares and ETA, and select different trip options or saved locations they frequently visit.
