Calling a Ceasefire on the Remote Work Debate
Wars are now waged in the comments of a LinkedIn post. We’ve all seen them. We may have even participated in them. It all starts with a bold proclamation that we must all join the work-from-home revolution, that not doing so is an assault on our freedoms and rights as modern-day employees. Or, it begins with a stake in the ground that we all have to return to the office, meet by the water coolers and break bread together—or else culture is dead forever. But this isn’t the Hunger Games.
The LGBTQ+ Opportunities Almost No Brand Has Touched
Editor’s note: This piece is part of a series with Graham Nolan on the ways marketers can commit to LGBTQ+ allyship and rethink visibility, support and inclusion in the workplace. Beyond unprecedented legal battles, LGBTQ+ individuals are more than twice as likely than heterosexual people to face mental health disorders in their lifetime and twice as likely to experience homelessness.
The Evolution of LGBTQIA+ Representation in Marketing
By It's important to remember the history of LGBTQ+ marketing only goes back 50 years. From ads that sailed below the radar for straight folks to glitter and rainbows galore, the tone, targeting and imagery of LGBTQ+ representation in advertisements has gone through countless iterations as the community faced pivotal moments like the AIDS epidemic and changing administrations.

Making it at Marvel and Creating Your Own Doorways
There’s nothing like getting whisked away into the magic of Disney’s vibrant animations or the explosive excitement of an Avengers movie. And while it might be every little kid’s dream to be one of these revered characters—the second-best thing might be working for them, which is exactly how Adweek Executive Mentee Henry Ong kicked off his marketing career. Not Your Parents’ Promotion: Making Bold Career Moves
Brand and culture. Swag and substance. This is the collision of ideas you can’t just learn in school, that you can only harness from having lived experience. And Lizette Williams has harnessed this trademark approach to marketing that’s propelled her career from PepsiCo to Kimberly Clark to McDonald's to Facebook, where she’s now Global Head of Vertical Marketing Solutions. But it wasn’t straightforward.
We Need Brave Companies to Be Advocates for the LGBTQIA+ Community
We must remember that the origins of Pride are rooted in a series of protests, many of which were spearheaded by Black trans women. We owe our freedoms to these women, and thus, we owe it to them to push forward accurate, intersectional representation of the LGBTQIA+ community. The Professional Mourners of Mani, Greece
The sound is indescribable, a primal howl. If I’d not seen the source of the wailing with my own eyes, I wouldn’t have believed it. Hunched over my grandfather’s body were three slight, elderly women dressed all in black, heads covered so that their eyes and mouths seemed to be lit like an El Greco painting. Though they weren’t imposing in stature, they made the military men beside them seem feeble. These women are some of the last remaining moirologists, or professional mourners, in Mani, Greece.
