MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KEYC) - The Madelia baseball team battled Red Lake County for the Class A state title on Monday. Madelia wins 11-1 in six innings. It’s the program’s first ever state championship. Tate Becker struck out nine for Madelia in the match-up while Bryce Borkenhagen led the team with three RBI’s. ST. CLOUD and CHASKA, Minn. (KEYC) - The state baseball tournament continued on Friday. Madelia defeated MCC 9-2 in the Class A semifinals. The Blackhawks will face the defending state champion on Monday in the Class A title game. That match-up against Red Lake County is set for 10:00 from Target Field. Windom fell to GSL 4-1 in the Class AA semifinals. The Eagles bounced back to take third place with a 9-7 win over Cotter/Hope.

BECKER, Minn. (KEYC) - The state golf tournament concluded on Wednesday. In Class A, JWP boys golf star Jeffrey Simonson took second place in the individual competition. Simonson shot a 148 over both days of the tournament. Sleepy Eye United’s Nolan Kucera finished in 16th. Sleepy Eye United finished fifth as a team at this year’s state tournament.
