Armed Customers Save Bystanders at Dollar General- Kissimmee, Florida
A drunk immigrant was inside a Dollar General store. She pulled a knife and then threatened other customers with that knife. Two shoppers in the store were armed and heard the screams. These armed bystanders moved between the armed attacker and other innocent customers. The store employees escorted the other customers out of the store. The employees also called 911 and asked for help. The armed bystanders stayed between the attacker and other victims until the police arrived.
School Board Prohibits Licensed Gun Owners
The Bend-La Pine school board (Bend, Oregon) approved its ban in December 2021, according to OPB. At the time, the school board’s chair, Melissa Barnes Dholakia, told the outlet that it “allowed us to complete the commitment that we already had in place of having gun-free schools.” The murderer came to a gun free zone. This school board cost lives.
A Good Guy With a Gun Stopped a Murderer at School
There was an attempted mass-murder at a school in Bend, Oregon. An armed bystander shot and stopped the murderer. We are waiting for the details. Exploiting the tragedy, the billionaires who want you disarmed will propose more laws that won’t stop the next mass-murder. There are over 20-thousand gun control laws already on the books. Tragedy is a convenient excuse to further restrict honest citizens. We know what works to protect our children.
DoorDash Driver Stops Carjacking.. and Gun Theft
In theory, it is safer to deliver pasta than people. A DoorDash driver was parked in front of an Asian Market in Martinez, Georgia. The driver had stepped out of his vehicle when a man demanded food. The driver said he didn’t have any, and the stranger pushed him. The driver was back in his car when the man approached him again. The stranger opened the passenger-side door and told the driver to get out of his car, that he was taking the driver’s vehicle.
Armed Bystander Stops Assault on Two Women
I want you to do the right thing at the right time. An ordinary armed citizen had to make some tough choices last week. He saw two women being assaulted in a Dollar General store. By all accounts, the woman and her daughter were minding their own business when a man walked in and started to beat the older woman. He hit her in the face. The woman’s teenage daughter tried to stop the attack. The male assailant then hit the younger woman also.
Coin Shop Clerk Needs His Gun, Two Thieves Decide to Run
Some jobs are dangerous. We often hear about thieves robbing the local convenience store. We hear about thieves robbing the local pawn shops, jewelry stores, or local restaurants. We even hear of them trying to rob pharmacies and banks. Collecting coins and stamps sounds pretty safe. Selling them isn’t. It is common for some employees in a pawn shop or a gun shop to openly carry a firearm on their hip. In a coin shop, that tool of personal protection is usually hidden under a sport coat or jacket.
Fort Lauderdale- Armed Renter Stops Two Armed Burglars
The news gave us a scoreboard. The useful part is what the news left out. Around six in the evening, an hour before sunset, two armed men broke into a Fort Lauderdale home. The home was rented as a bed and breakfast. The neighborhood is older single-family homes set apart from one another. One later report said the attackers had an AR-style rifle. Neighbors heard as many as ten gunshots. The resident fought the older burglar, then shot the younger burglar in the upper torso. Both burglars ran.
Austin Homeowner Stops Nighttime Home Invasion
Don’t go looking for trouble– Old sayings are true. They endure because they carry wisdom. A 24-year-old man broke into a home just before 4 in the morning. The intruder entered the homeowner’s bedroom. The homeowner shot the intruder. The homeowner called 911. Emergency Medical Services declared the intruder dead at the scene. The intruder had a record with the police. As simple as all that sounds, there is a lot to learn. There are bits of wisdom hidden in the ordinary news.
Uber Driver Shoots Armed Attacker in Port Saint Lucie
I’ve met several people who were delivery drivers. You probably know some too. Going to sketchy areas late at night is dangerous. I would have thought that picking up a delivery at a restaurant in the middle of the afternoon would be safe. I was wrong. This delivery driver in Florida faced an armed man and defended himself. Here is the rest of the story. The delivery driver pulled into a parking place at about a quarter-to-four in the afternoon.
Armed Citizen Sees the Threat and Stops it in Time
Lots of firearms instruction comes with a story. Here is where you are. This is what you see. This is what you do. Now, do that for me as I watch and offer corrections. That instruction is a simplified version of what happens, but some times real life is that surprisingly simple. An armed citizen in Illinois was standing next to his car pumping gas at 9 in the morning. He was in a small suburb south of Chicago. The weather was mild. The air temperature was about 72 degrees.
Homeowner Stops Thief. Thief Wanted for Arson!
Many of us have security video around our homes. More important was the recent case where the homeowner paid attention to the video. A female homeowner in Vancouver, Washington noticed the security alarm at about 9pm. This thief had a very busy and destructive evening. The female homeowner noticed that a stranger entered her home. She saw him take an expensive bicycle. She chased after him. The thief turned and threatened the homeowner with a knife. The homeowner drew her gun.
Armed Customer Stops Armed Robber in Texas Bank
This news story requires some imagination. We don’t have all the details. A man walked into a bank at about 9 in the morning. The bank was in a suburb between Dallas and Fort Worth. We’ve all walked into a bank before. This time was different. This man had a knife in his hand and threatened the bank employees. He threatened the bank customers . He demanded that they do what he wanted. He demanded they give him money. “I rob banks because that’s where the money is,” attributed to bank robber Willie Sutton.
Armed Florida Homeowner Stops Fleeing Criminal
A homeowner in Orange Park, Florida, stopped a fleeing suspect Monday afternoon when the man ran into the homeowner’s garage. The criminal had a busy afternoon. He’d been a criminal for years. This homeowner was ready for him. Earlier that day, the criminal stole a car. Police tracked it and chased it. The criminal, 34-year-old William Tracy White Jr., and his accomplice passenger 32-year-old Amanda Jean Strickland, ran from police.
South Carolina Store Clerk Wins the Slow Race to Self Defense
We were lied to by our grade school teachers. I was told that it takes two to have a fight. Either of us could stop it. That isn’t true. It only takes one person to start a violent fight. We don’t know when or if we will be invited to defend our lives and the lives of other innocent parties around us. A store clerk in Florence, South Carolina was being robbed at gunpoint when his actions saved lives. The story is rare because you or I will probably never be in that situation.
Mom Defends Children from Ex-Boyfriend in the Middle of the Night
The morning is wiser than the night. A 33-year-old woman had to break up with her boyfriend. He wasn’t safe to be around. He wasn’t safe to have around her three children. This mom was ready after he beat her up. She was ready when he broke into her home just after 2 in the morning. No means no, and she was forced to shoot her attacker after he smashed through her family’s front door. There were hints. The victim was attacked the day before. The victim picked up on the clues.
Armed Citizens Stop Mass Murder in Twin Falls, Idaho
An armed citizen and an off-duty Idaho State Police officer stopped a mass murder. It is great news that more people were not murdered in the attempt. With that gratitude in mind, the attack in Twin Falls, Idaho was much like the other situations we’ve seen. A mass murderer usually looks for a location with lots of victims. Shooting people draws attention. Once the shooting starts, it is a matter of time until the police show up.
Escalating Use of Deadly Force in Self-Defense
tags: Armed America, armed defense, self defense An armed attacker entered a restaurant in Cerritos, California. A good guy with a gun stopped a bad guy with a knife. That simple description covers an interesting story. What we know- The crazy guy with a knife stole a truck from a young woman. He damaged the truck and dumped the vehicle in a shopping center. The crazy guy then ran into a nearby restaurant. He ran into the kitchen and food-preparation area.
Self-Defense Succeeded Where All Else Failed
Life is unfair. You can be doing the right thing at the right time and still face a threat to your life. Most of us are able to avoid criminals. Very few innocent people get good at defending themselves. We lack the experience that builds reliable habits. Said another way, criminals usually have more experience with violence than their victims. Let’s look at a recent example from Atlanta, Georgia to see what worked and what failed.
An Imperfect Defense was Good Enough
A clerk worked at a convenience store in Tulsa, Oklahoma. An armed robber entered the store and threatened the clerk. The clerk defended himself. That description is true, but the reality was more complicated. Working at a convenience store is a dangerous job. Police officers and sheriff’s deputies call these stores “stop-and-robs” for a reason. Most of us visit a convenience store for gas or a snack every week.
Jonathan Goldstein: The facts we’re ignoring that can combat gun crime
Why do we focus on honest gun owners when we ignore the perpetrators criminal history? RM “Put more pointedly, we have our hands on those who kill on average four or more times for a major felony of some sort before they murder.
Were These Armed Defenders Good, or Were They Lucky?
The Main Stream Media refuses to cover most examples of armed defense. Some outlets have never covered a single story of that type. That leads to several problems. We can forget that armed defense happens. We are also less versed in what we should do if we see a lethal threat. The problem is out of sight so out of mind. Let’s look at what our neighbors saw and at what they did. This recent story of armed defense is from Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Armed Homeowner Stops an Armed Burglar
That thing that never happens, well it happened again. Some news outlets refuse to talk about it. They never cover the millions of times each year that honest citizens defend themselves with a firearms. Here is one of those stories from last week. A couple lived in Aberdeen, North Carolina. They were at home on Sunday night. It was almost midnight when they heard someone trying to break into their home. One homeowner went to investigate.

I was listening to a gun debate, and I thought the discussion ignored the elephant in the room. Details matter and guns save lives. Armed citizens do not save a few lives here and there; they save millions! It is hard to make guns safer without costing lives because we use them so often.

There are lots of Iranian and Chinese spies in the US.
Training: Armed Self-Defense Skills are Simple, Difficult, and Necessary
We go along, day after day, year after year, and then something happens that changes our perspective. I was talking to a young man not long after I began writing about armed defense. Each of the ordinary stories I covered included an advanced self-defense skill. The young man said he wanted to make his family safer. We talked about it for a minute and I think that’s where emotion raised its head, where truth and fantasy parted company. Let me state the obvious. Protecting your family takes work.

Lots of us live in large cities. Those cities have police chiefs who are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by a city council. Those chiefs tell us to be a good witness if we see a crime. Last week we found out just how many people would celebrate if you or I were murdered.
Why Aren’t We Safe in Church?
A murderer attacked an LDS church in Michigan. I was talking to a friend who is in a leadership position in his local LDS church. Our conversation was the evening before the Michigan attack. I asked if LDS churches allow their members to go armed in church. They do not. That seems so odd to me, but it is more common than I thought. My friend is an expert in armed defense and in trauma care. He knows best practice. He also obeys his church leadership. My friend has a lot of duties.
The Dangerous Lie from the Left- Why Speech is not Violence
Someone assassinated Charlie Kirk. Read the posts on BlueSky and you will see that many people wanted him dead. A few people made it easier to murder people they didn’t like by claiming that “speech” is “violence”. That is absurdly dangerous for all of us. Violence means using physical force to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something. Violence may be justified or not justified. Speech is expressing thoughts and feelings by articulate sounds.

What We Didn’t Learn About Mass Murder
For every problem there is a quick, cheap, and simple solution.. that doesn’t work. A mentally ill person attacked a church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We’ve been there before. Why are we attracted to solutions that fail time after time? We love our children. Let’s put up a plastic sign that tells honest people to keep their guns outside our schools. It turns out that murderers are attracted by plastic signs that advertise disarmed victims.

I talked with Tom Gresham about Ed Monk’s new book and defending schools from mass murderers. Why are we afraid to protect our children? Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk Radio Our segment starts at 26:30. I also talked with Bill Frady on his Lock-N-Load podcast. We covered second-amendment news as well as two self-defensive stories. Here are the show notes from Bill’s show. Ed Monk had been touring the United States. Ed usually talks at churches and schools, and sometimes at police departments. He talks about mass murderers and how to stop them. After a decade of study, Ed put some of his notes into a book. The book was published a few weeks ago and is called “First 30 Seconds.” He brings up many good points. Here is one of many that stuck with me. Everyone says zero. We want zero people injured. Then they refuse to plan for zero.

We’ve Been Running a Successful, Years-Long Experiment On What Happens When You Arm School Teachers and Staff
What should we do to protect the children in our schools? We hear a flurry of sound bites from both sides of the never-ending debate. Each side focuses on the narrow point that makes their case in the fewest words. There are good arguments that say fewer good people get shot once a good guy or gal is shooting at the murderer. Another point of view says it’s better if the murderer never comes to your school in the first place. Unfortunately, that argument takes some serious twists and turns.
