Did Jesus Give Christian Leaders the Right to Use Coarse Political Rhetoric?
By Michael Brown Published on October 3, 2024 A seasoned ministry colleague wrote to me last week asking for assistance. “I need some help with exegesis of Luke 13:31-32,” he said. “I spoke at a conference last week with many pastors who used that passage where Jesus calls Herod a fox as their rationale for using coarse language about Harris/Walz and the other political side.
Follow the Truth, Not Your Heart
The Christian worldview teaches that the heart is deceitfully wicked and that transformation happens when our minds are conformed to the truth. According to the New Age worldview, the mind is a trickster, so we should follow our hearts. This is a complete inversion of the truth. The New Age teaches the opposite of Christianity on this. Our students saw the absurdity of this view and exposed it by asking good questions. “You probably should kill yourself.” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
How to Show Mormon Missionaries That the Bible Contradicts Their Gospel
Even if an angel from Heaven brought the Mormon gospel, Paul warns us not to believe it. At this point, gently ask them if they know the gospel Paul preached. If they don’t, share the true gospel of salvation—Ephesians 2:8-9. I want to make a promise to you. After reading this, you’ll be prepared to show Mormon missionaries that the Bible disagrees with Joseph Smith and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as the LDS Church or Mormonism).
Do Near-Death Experiences Confirm a Biblical Worldview?
Accounts of near-death experiences (NDEs) are becoming increasingly mainstream, both in science and popular culture. Movies like Angel Studios’ After Death (2023) and books like John Burke’s Imagine Heaven (Baker, 2015) are bringing this topic from the fringes into churches all over the world, not to mention the many NDE testimonies that consistently go viral on various social media platforms.
How Americans Said 'I Do' to Gay 'Marriage'
In 2012, 31% of those who attended religious services weekly supported same-sex “marriage.” According to recent Gallup polling data, that number is now 41%. Across the general population, support sits at over 70%. In a WORLD News article earlier this month, Dr. Rosaria Butterfield described how “a moral revolution,” instigated by activists committed to playing the “long game,” was so effective. Specifically, Dr. Butterfield underscored the impact of a book published in 1989.
A New Testament Passage That’s Older than the New Testament
This ancient creed, however, shows us what the very first Christians believed about Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection, and post-resurrection appearances. The Christian creed in 1 Corinthians 15:3–7 obliterates the “Jesus as legend” challenge. From the inception of the church, the earliest believers confessed Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection, and post-resurrection appearances. There was no time for legendary development. The Christian church is older than its New Testament books.
Planning a Wedding? You Don't Have to Drain the Piggy Bank
By Dante Hosseini Published on April 14, 2024 Inflation stings. If you’re about to get married, you may be tempted to elope just to avoid starting married life with a bankruptcy, since according to Nerdwallet, the average American wedding in 2023 cost more than $30,000. And you might want to consider spending less for other reasons, too: that the cheaper the wedding, the less likely the marriage will end in divorce. So should you just elope? Not necessarily.
Days of Observance Among People Made in the Image of God
By Jim Kenaston Published on April 9, 2024 Despite all the uproar over the White House’s official proclamation of “Transgender Day of Visibility” being observed on Easter Sunday this year, it turns out it’s just one of 47 commemoration days or weeks that the LGBTQ+ community has sprinkled throughout the year — not including the entire month of June, which has been proclaimed “Pride Month.” Until last week, I was unaware that in 2009 an activist had declared March 31 to be “Transgender Day of...
Two Common Mistakes Christians Make About Government
By Robby Lashua Published on March 14, 2024 Dread: terror or apprehension towards something coming in the future. Are you ready to feel some dread? It’s an election year! But don’t stop reading. I want to help you gain a biblical perspective on the Christian view of government and how to do good in society as Christ followers. If you’re already dreading what’s coming this year, take heart. The Bible gives us great perspective on how to view government and our role within it.
Don’t Let Potential Negative Outcomes Keep You from Sharing Truth with Compassion
We are called to be ambassadors for Christ, which includes modeling how he expressed truth and compassion. Some people will respond to the evidence we present; others won’t. We still share, we still love, and we still defend. I’d been preparing my argument for six months, and now it was time to deliver. I was precise, winsome, and articulate. Honestly, my delivery couldn’t have gone better. The conversation went back and forth as I continued to make point after point.
Why a Same-Sex Couple Could Never Practice Christian Marriage
By Robby Lashua Published on February 5, 2024 I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “I’m not inclusive in spite of what Scripture says; I’m inclusive because of what Scripture says.” My wife read me these words from a Facebook post by one of my former seminary professors. This statement was posted with a picture of my former professor performing a wedding for two women. Pro-gay theology has infiltrated evangelical churches in America, and “inclusion” has been one of the major selling points.
Did You Miss Something in the Isaiah 7:14 Prophecy?
The true author of Scripture, not only can accurately predict future events but is also sovereign over the development of language. God knew Isaiah 7:14 would be further fulfilled by Jesus’ birth to a virgin, even though the original sign wasn’t about a virgin, but a young woman giving birth to a son and naming him Immanuel. Have you ever thought you were so familiar with something, only to find out later you’d been overlooking some important details?
We Won't Force You to Believe
By Janet Boynes Published on December 9, 2023 If you want to be gay, then be gay! If you want to marry someone of the same sex, then that is your right. If you choose to identify as lesbian, bi-sexual, non-binary or even a cow, that is your prerogative and your right to do so. Your Right to Choose As Americans, we believe in everyone’s right to freedom of speech and expression of who they are.
Why My LDS Friend Isn’t Trying to Convert Me to Mormonism
By Robby Lashua Published on July 27, 2023 I was shocked. It was the second time my Latter-day Saint friend told me he wasn’t interested in converting me. Last month, I led a group of high school students on an immersive apologetics mission trip to Salt Lake City, Utah. Part of the trip involved touring Temple Square and interacting with an older LDS couple, John and Sally, who work with non-Mormon groups. My discussions with John hit me differently this trip than in the past.
Good Thing There Weren’t Four Gay Couples on Noah’s Ark
Although an impossible hypothetical (as God would have never done that), the above title statement is quite obvious to all of us. Had there been four gay couples on the ark, I wouldn’t be writing this, and you wouldn’t be reading it. Humanity would not exist. So, why is the rainbow — the miraculous sign given to the eight people onboard the ark — an LGBTQ symbol? The story of Noah’s ark is the greatest heterosexual story ever told.
The Uprising: Families Clash With Schools Over LGBTQ Propaganda
In a June like none other, where the LGBTQ agenda has been crammed at increasing velocity down the throats of unwitting Americans, everyday folks are reaching their limits. With two more weeks to go in “Pride Month,” this is bad news for the rainbow mafia. But it’s a sign of character and courage that the rest of us can take hope in — especially when demonstrated by families in the direct line of propagandistic fire.
Quarantine is Not a Good Option
By Robby Lashua Published on June 5, 2023 Recently, Target stores partnered with a transgender designer, who has used Satanist imagery in the past, to create LGBTQ+ designs for a few of their Pride Month items. That’s a sentence I never thought I would write, but here we are, and Pride Month is just beginning.
We Are Not Proud
They will march through our biggest streets and party endlessly across the nation throughout June as their memorial of the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City. The LGBTQ community will raise the colors of the rainbow in their own symbolism of pride declaring their so-called freedom to mainstream their sexual preferences before our children, schools, media and wherever any door is open.
How Jesus' Sacrifice and His Love Are Even Greater Than You Knew
By Tom Gilson Published on April 7, 2023 If there’s one thing I’ll never get over, in this life and I’m sure for eternity to come, it’s the unmatched, incomparable love of Jesus Christ, proved by his ultimate sacrifice on the Cross. “Ultimate” doesn’t say it strongly enough, though. It was the ultimate ultimate sacrifice. “Greater love has no man than this,” He said, “than to lay down his life for his friends.” A few short hours later He did that.
The Crucifixion Stories Are Embarrassing, and That’s a Good Thing
Familiarity with the Bible is good, but it can also lead to our missing important details. Let me explain. Being familiar with Scripture leads us to anticipate what we know comes next in the text, and sometimes we miss the shocking, ironic, or funny aspects of the Bible. Since we know what’s coming, we often miss out on details that are right in front of us, such as Jesus being funny. Have you ever thought about the imagery of a camel squeezing through the eye of a needle? It’s hilarious.
