Nanaimo is trying to make the municipality more receptive to those with hidden disabilities. The finance and audit committee unanimously voted to recommend that council register the city as a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Network at its meeting on Sept. 23. The international Sunflower program supports people with non-visible disabilities, including neurological, cognitive, developmental, or sensory conditions such as autism, ADHD, brain injuries, dementia, anxiety disorders and more.

It’s not meant as retribution for hated bosses (and I’m sure there are a lot of those out there), but as a fundraiser for the Nanaimo Brain Injury Society.
