Im 17 and want to buy a house...
Hello all, I am 17 years old and have multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on if I should house hack while in college. I will be going to college for 4 years and would love to build equity in a home, I don't mind paying on the mortgage as I have a great income but I would like to lower the payment by having 1-2 roommates/tenants. Is this a good idea? And if so should I be looking for a duplex or just roommates.
Letter: Real estate deals
There have been some remarkable real estate deals made in this country. In 1629, the Lenape tribe sold 22.8 sq. mi. Manhattan Island to the Dutch West India Company for a modest $24.00. In 1803, the US paid France $15 million for the 828,000 sq. mi. Louisiana Purchase. The U.S. paid Mexico $10 million in 1854 for the Gadsden Purchase, an area 29,670 sq. mi. in size. In 1867, Russia sold all 665,400 sq. mi. of Alaska to the US for a mere $7.2 million. And in 2024, voters sold the US, a country 3,796, 742 sq.
Letter: A Comatose Congress
Elon is threatening every federal employee with termination if they do not respond tout de suite to his email, and the House and Senate are mute in the face of Musk's threat. What's going on here? Have Trump and Musk sent every member of the House and Senate to the Happy Valley Spay and Neuter Clinic for a quick surgical procedure? Disclaimer: As submitted to the Arizona Daily Star.
Letter: Crime
During the recent presidential campaign Donald Trump repeatedly said crime is out of control in America. Turns out he is right. Crime is so out of control in this country a felon will move into the White House January 20, 2025. Robert Bishop East side Disclaimer: As submitted to the Arizona Daily Star. Letter: Trump as president
The author of a recent letter to the editor stated Trump achieved the unthinkable by winning the popular vote. Indeed, Trump did achieve the unthinkable; he convinced a nation to elect him, a 34-count felon, president of the United States. Now that's unthinkable. Letter: Trump as president
January 20, 2025 is going to be the most unlikely day in 248 years of U.S. history. On this day a felon, who is awaiting sentencing, is going to become president and take control of the United States. A felon in the Oval Office, sitting at the Resolute Desk. Difficult to comprehend, but there it is. Robert Bishop East side Disclaimer: As submitted to the Arizona Daily Star. Video Player is loading. Letter: Recent election
For the first time in 248 years of US history we will have a president who is a for-real court-certified felon sending to the Senate names of men and women to be confirmed as federal judges. I find this oddly humorous, but I am not laughing. Robert Bishop East side Disclaimer: As submitted to the Arizona Daily Star. Video Player is loading. Letter: A Kelowna thrift store united church choir find
Many years ago, my extended family and I were part of Squamish, which feels like 100 years ago. Recently, I found a CD at a Kelowna thrift store: ‘Leaning On The Everlasting Arms,’ home-recorded by the Squamish United Church choir. It’s recorded on a Memorex C/D, handwritten around the edge, with no date. The first song is the title of the CD and the last song is “Walk Worthy.” It’s wonderful.
Letter: 2024 election
On what date did it become acceptable to Americans for a felon to be elected President of the United States? Surely, this date must be one of the most significant dates in our history. Letter: 2024 election
The possibility of a felon being elected president of the United States is a stark indication that something is profoundly and disturbingly wrong with this country. A felon in the White House, as president? No. Not ever. Robert Bishop East side Disclaimer: As submitted to the Arizona Daily Star. Video Player is loading.
