More than 46,000 homes in Cumbria do not have mains gas and many rely on heating fuels such as oil or LPG. But due to the war in Iran, the price of oil has surged and Brian Aves, from Nenthead, said the cost of heating oil had doubled for him.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued an enforcement policy statement last week which will create a safe harbor under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and its implementing Rule (COPPA Rule) allowing companies to employ age verification technologies without the fear of enforcement action. This new guidance reflects an effort to balance the FTC’s goal of addressing the collection of children’s personal information with efforts to implement age verification online.

On Saturday, Feb. 21, there was a celebration of life held for a good friend and proud veteran, Ronald Jackson (RJ), in Tonto Basin. We wanted to reach out and thank the Payson Military Honor Guard for all they did for the family and our community. They performed a flag ceremony, played Taps, and held a 21 gun salute. They did all of this on their own time and in a highly professional manner. It's groups such as this which give our communities good names and make us want to live here.
