The maternal–fetal interface is an early hematopoietic niche enriched in distinct erythro-myeloid progenitors
Abstract Embryonic hematopoiesis is thought to occur exclusively in the extraembryonic yolk sac before hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) arise in the aorta–gonad–mesonephros region. Here we identify a previously unrecognized hematopoietic site at the maternal–fetal interface in mice, termed MIXER (Maternally Interfaced eXtraEmbRyonic) tissue, which develops contemporaneously with the yolk sac and exhibits robust hematopoietic activity.

Histone H3 serine-57 is a CHK1 substrate whose phosphorylation affects DNA repair - Nature Communications
Abstract Histone post-translational modifications promote a chromatin environment that controls transcription, DNA replication and repair, but surprisingly few phosphorylations have been documented. We report the discovery of histone H3 serine-57 phosphorylation (H3S57ph) and show that it is implicated in different DNA repair pathways from fungi to vertebrates.

Histone H3K9 Methyltransferase G9a in Oocytes Is Essential for Preimplantation Development but Dispensable for CG Methylation Protection
Highlights • CG methylation and H3K9me2 are spatially separated in the genome of oocytes • H3K9 methyltransferase G9a regulates chromatin reorganization in mouse oocytes • Maternal G9a is vital for proper chromosome segregation in preimplantation embryos • Maternal G9a has no impact on CG methylation protection in preimplantation embryos Summary Mammalian histone methyltransferase G9a (also called EHMT2) deposits H3K9me2 on chromatin and is essential for postimplantation development.
Culture of preimplantation embryos and its long-term effects on gene expression and phenotype
A growing number of medical, scientific and biotechnological procedures rely on culture of mammalian preimplantation embryos. This review presents currently available data on aberrant offspring development that sometimes arises from commonly applied in-vitro procedures in humans, ruminant species and mice. Comparison between mammalian species reveals similarities in the phenotypic abnormalities that are observed at fetal and perinatal stages of development.
Dorsal root ganglion axon bifurcation tolerates increased cyclic GMP levels: the role of phosphodiesterase 2A and scavenger receptor Npr3
A cyclic GMP (cGMP) signaling pathway, comprising C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP), its guanylate cyclase receptor Npr2, and cGMP-dependent protein kinase I, is critical for the bifurcation of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and cranial sensory ganglion axons when entering the mouse spinal cord and the hindbrain respectively. However, the identity and functional relevance of phosphodiesterases (PDEs) that degrade cGMP in DRG neurons are not completely understood.
