Nanoconfinement‐Induced Electrochemical Ion‐Solvent Cointercalation in Pillared Titanate Host Materials
Received: 29.December 2024 Electrochemical energy storage devices, including lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries, are in increasing global demand. Their functioning mechanism is the electrochemical intercalation of ions from the electrolyte into the solid-state host structure of the electrode materials. Layered transition metal oxides (TMOs) are widely used as cathode materials and serve as alternatives to carbon-based anodes in lithium- and sodium-ion batteries.
Opinion: California must adapt to new climate era to limit wildfire threat
The fires devastating Los Angeles neighborhoods are just the latest reminder of Southern California’s vulnerability to climate change. Where wildfires once were a periodic phenomenon, the region now faces a virtually year-round fire season. A warming climate has produced more extreme droughts, drying out rural and urban landscapes alike. Drier conditions enable fires to burn hotter and spread more rapidly, especially during high winds, posing greater challenges to firefighting agencies.

'Buried by The Times': Horror Story
May 15, 2005 BURIED BY THE TIMES The Holocaust and America's Most Important Newspaper. By Laurel Leff. Illustrated. 426 pp. Cambridge University Press. $29. ON the level of sheer reporting, Laurel Leff's "Buried by The Times" is impressive. She is not the first to excoriate The New York Times for its neglectful coverage of the Holocaust but she is the most thorough, building on the work of historians of American indifference like Deborah Lipstadt and David Wyman. Leff is a relentless journalist.
