Tissue-specific recombination-activated clonal and inducible transcription (TRAC-IT) enables controlled gene activation in stably marked tissues
INTRODUCTION Technologies that offer inducible control over transgene expression represent powerful tools in plant research and biotechnology (Moore et al., 2006). In contrast to classical transgene overexpression, where the transgene is simply expressed under control of a constitutive promoter, inducible transactivation systems allow for temporal control of transgene expression as they depend on the presence of an inducing cue.

A community’s unease with the federalization of Joint Forces Training Base
By Robert Winter Los Alamitos, Cypress, and other neighboring communities have long taken pride in the Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) and the troops who dedicate their time serving there. But not everyone welcomed the massive buildup to accommodate 4,000 federalized California National Guard soldiers—especially given the base’s involvement in ICE-related activities. Many residents expressed outrage, sadness, suspicion, distrust, and outright fear.

Fangsgiving by Robert Winter My rating: 4 of 5 stars Robert Winter’s Vampire Claus is one of my favourite festive reads so I was delighted to hear he was returning to the series with a follow-up. Fangsgiving has all the same elements which made the first one such a success for me, a complex vampire, a cute as a button human and a romance for the ages.
My Copy of The Times
In days or yore, I would have spoken of ‘my copy of The Times.’ After all, it is a hard copy, I paid for it and I can port it around. It is, for all intents and purposes ‘mine.’ But in the digital age it isn’t ‘my copy,’ rather it is my temporary access so long as the subscription lasts. Of course, in the era of ‘my copy’ there was not assertion to a copy(right), much less copy(left), over the printed work. Just the joy that it was ‘mine’ to possess for as long the ink remained indelible.

Robert J. Winter Dear editor, Now that the school year is complete and the graduation ceremonies are over, I wanted to reflect on just how blessed we are to have Marjorie Green, Tamara Walker and Alex Rivera involved in the music program at Bartlesville High School. I have watched these talented folks work with the graduating class for the past four years. They are consistently upbeat, patient, positive and supportive, no matter what the situation might be.
