Drivers possibly targeted in separate incidents

KTVD-TV (Denver, CO) — KUSA - Multiple agencies are looking into whether three separate incidents involving shattered windows in operating cars are connected to an Interstate 25 shooting Wednesday night. All four incidents occurred in northern Colorado in the past two days. The only confirmed shooting and injury was a 20-year-old female driver who was struck in the neck. The first incident happened Tuesday morning. Larimer County Sheriff's Deputies were transporting inmates northbound on I-25 just north of Mead when the right window shattered. Deputies say it was some sort of projectile that was meant to break glass. The second incident occurred in Loveland around 9:50 p.m.

WINDSOR - Police say the shooting of a motorist on Interstate 25 in April is connected to the fatal shooting of a Windsor bicyclist earlier this month and both appear random. Windsor Police Chief John Michaels made the announcement Friday and said the attacks were linked by evidence recovered from the scenes. He did not disclose what that evidence was. KTVD-TV (Denver, CO) — The FBI has doubled the reward to $20,000 for information about two related roadside shootings. FORT COLLINS - Investigators are looking for a driver of a white Ford SUV in connection to the fatal shooting of a bicyclist near Windsor in May. A task force headed by the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday the person may have important witness information regarding the shooting death of John Jacoby. He was gunned down May 18 in Windsor as he rode his bike near Weld County Road 72 and Weld County Road 15. The Windsor shooting was linked to the April 22 shooting of a 20-year-old Milliken woman.

Twelve people lost their lives and at least 70 people were injured in the 2012 shooting. The father of Alex Teves had a very emphatic message for the media who gathered outside the Arapahoe County courthouse Thursday after the verdict. "This isn't about a thing who indiscriminately kills, and if you look at it, it will kill again. It's about these people," Tom Teves said, pointing to a T-shirt with images of the victims, "and all those people who were hurt.

KTVD-TV (Denver, CO) — AURORA - A 7-year-old boy is in critical condition at Children's Hospital after an accidental shooting in Aurora Thursday afternoon. The boy was shot in the head inside a home with six juveniles, ranging in age from 7 to 12. No adults were present at the time of the shooting, police say. It happened at a home in the Hoffman Heights neighborhood in 1000 Block of North Vaughn Street in Aurora. The 7-year-old does not live where the shooting happened. Investigators have not determined who fired the shot, but they think the shooting was an accident.

KTVD-TV (Denver, CO) — LOVELAND - A 20-year-old Evans woman wanted for the attempted homicide of a 64-year-old man she met on an online dating site turned herself in to police. Jenessa Rosenbach turned herself in to Loveland police at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. She was processed and transported to the Larimer County Jail. Police were called to the Loveland home in the 1500 block of Caddoa Drive around 2:37 p.m. Sunday. The man said Rosenbach had cut his neck and then fled the scene, according to Loveland police. The man, whose name police are withholding, was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

USA Today — AVON, Colo. - Nine spectators were injured after fireworks were accidentally shot into the crowd during a show here Friday night, authorities say. The injured spectators suffered minor burns, according to Tracy LeClair of the Eagle River Fire Department. The accident occurred during the "Salute to the USA" show at Harry A. Nottingham Park in Avon, about 80 miles west of Denver. The annual event, which attracts about 20,000 people, was abruptly ended after the incident. Virginia Egger, the town manager in Avon, says a malfunction caused a fireworks shell to explode in its tube rather than firing into the sky.

The suspect shot and killed himself, police say. Littleton police Lt. Trent Cooper says the agent, whose name has not been released, was shot in the calf at the Essex House Motel in Littleton at about 4 p.m. Friday. The agent was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fired two shots at law enforcement agents, who did not fire back. He then shot himself in the room.

The mother asked Abigael why she was crying and she responded, "I'm tired of Bronco Bamma and Mitt Romney." This little girl may have captured a sentiment many voters feel less than a week away from Election Day. Elizabeth says on the way back from the store she switched the radio from NPR to Neil Young.

A viewer-submitted video shows the twin-engine Piper flying up, stalling and then diving low to the ground. Jennifer Dandy sent the video to 9NEWS. "It was just scary. He was way too close," Dandy said. "My horses were freaking out. The neighbors' horses were all down. He came back around and I knew he just went down. You could feel the thud; you could hear the thud; you could see the smoke."

KTVD-TV (Denver, CO) — BRIGHTON - A Brighton police officer was seen comforting a child at the scene of a fatal rollover crash Thursday. One person was killed in the single-vehicle crash on Interstate 76 in Brighton. It happened around 9:30 a.m. just past E-470. Police say the two adults and four kids in the SUV were not properly restrained. All of them were ejected in the crash. An adult man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. An adult woman and a child were airlifted to the hospital. The three remaining children were taken by ambulance.

Steve Wells bid $60,000 for the 2010 Dodge Charger valued at $12,500. The car was used by Sam Brownlee, who was killed in 2010 in the line of duty. After placing the winning bid, Wells walked over to Brownlee's son and handed the keys to him, saying "Tanner, here's your car." "Realizing how much this car meant to him, I understand it now, and I want to keep that and hold onto it," Tanner told 9NEWS before the auction.

GRAND JUNCTION - A Grand Junction charter school voted Tuesday 3-1 to allow a girl who shaved her head to support her friend battling cancer to return to school. Caprock Academy in Grand Junction told Kamryn Renfro's mother Monday that her daughter would not be allowed to attend classes after the school learned of the incident. Kamryn shaved her head in support of her cancer-stricken friend, 11-year-old Delaney Clements. She lost her hair because she is undergoing chemotherapy in her fight against neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer. "The medicine she was taking made her hair fall out.

KTVD-TV (Denver, CO) — KUSA - The parents of a woman who was killed in the Aurora movie theater shooting have lost their bid to hold ammunition sellers liable for the attack. A U.S. district judge dismissed Friday a lawsuit against multiple online ammo retailers that defendant James Holmes purchased bullets from. The lawsuit was filed in September on behalf of Sandy and Lonnie Phillips, whose daughter Jessica Ghawi was shot and killed during the 2012 shooting. The lawsuit alleged that several websites -- BulkAmmo.com, The Sportsman's Guide, BTP Arms and BulletProofBodyArmorHQ.com -- failed to screen the shooter to determine who he was or what he planned to do with the products.
