Why did you become a journalist?
I'm endlessly curious about the topics I cover. All I've ever wanted to do is cook, eat, and write about food and cooking.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No, but I worked on the yearbook team as a photographer.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Walking my little dog Yuki, either around the neighborhood or on hiking trails around the Bay Area.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That our work is all about indulgent (and free) meals at chi chi restaurants. It’s more about intensive research, tight deadlines, fact-checking, and the pressures of producing well-written, engaging content.
