Melted Gruyere and caramelized onions spill out of the French onion smashburger served with fries. (Robin Intemann, Springs Scene) My late father-in-law often proclaimed wine a food, which typically led to passionate debate. I’m certain he would have fit in well at Uva Wine Bar where the vino was plentiful, the vittles praiseworthy and no doubt about either. Fig and prosciutto flatbread featuring ricotta, sliced figs, crispy prosciutto, arugula and balsamic drizzle.

Amore Italian Grille in Colorado Springs. We had barely made eye contact with the couple exiting Amore Italian Grille as we were entering before they began raving about how much they had enjoyed their meal. This doesn’t happen often and theirs was no paid endorsement. The Menu Amore’s bill of fare includes antipasti, pastas, entrees and more. Bruschettas easily could have been among the antipasti, but had a heading of their own; so did specialty pastas.
