Typically, biodiesel is composed of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) and fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEEs). (1,2) Biodiesel is mostly used in blends with petroleum diesel and has a range of beneficial effects on engine emissions owing to reduced CO, hydrocarbon and particulate matter emissions.
