Articles by Robin Good
✪ Liquid Content: From Articles to Resources People Keep Using - #91
For centuries the article was the finished product. It is becoming the way someone finds a resource he can use, and that only works if the sources, your process and your checks stay attached to it. We may be entering an age in which publishing also means making what you know available as pieces that people, and machines, can assemble around a need you never anticipated. Build knowledge resources, tools and apps from what you’ve already written, keeping your sources, reasoning and checks visible.
🔖 Expensive Signals: Why the Choices That Cost You Most Are What People Trust - Deep Reads #03
When AI can fake plausible expertise on demand, what people still pay for is the judgment you paid a real price to earn. When AI can produce plausible expertise on-demand, the one thing left that your customers will happily pay for is your very specific, personal judgment. Five articles, one direction: Knowledge has suddenly become very cheap. Simply producing more content delivers fewer and fewer benefits.
✪ Why Curation Is Becoming the New Trust Strategy: The Data Behind It - #81
This is no longer just my opinion. Five signals explain why curation, the art of filtering, judging and contextualizing information, is becoming an essential authority-building skill. For years I have been arguing that curation is not a minor editorial activity, nor a way to save time and effort to create valuable content. In my very personal view it can be a way to build authority without having to be great writers, as it requires judgment and pattern recognition more than prose.
đ Showing How You Choose Is What Makes You Trustable - Deep Reads #02
In the AI age, your real authority is revealed by the criteria behind your choices. Three articles from different authors point in the same direction. When AI can produce any output on demand, the bottleneck, the rare, scarce thing becomes the human who can choose well. The person who knows what to pick, what to leave out, what to connect, and what to apply to a specific context is the one who holds the value.
✪ From Second Brains To Compounding Intelligent Knowledge Bases - #76
How The Curator App, a free open-source tool, implements Karpathy's LLM-wiki idea and gives any expert a private knowledge infrastructure that gets smarter with every source they add. The Curator is a knowledge base that gets smarter with every source you add by compiling what you know into a structured, growing intelligence. What the second brain was always trying to be.

✪ Curation as Knowledge Infrastructure: Building Archipelagos of Meaning - #53
A slower, time-tested alternative way to create value in the AI era: pick what’s relevant and show how it connects to the rest. 1) The Problem: Structural Scarcity in an Age of Abundance Two weeks ago, I found myself searching for an old fascinating article, I had read many years ago, about content curation. I wanted to link it in a new paper I was drafting. I remembered that in the old article, the author had been quoting two authors and a study, but I couldn’t retrace how those ideas connected.
✪ When Everyone Is a Guru… Curators Are Kings - #51
When I open my Substack my overall impression is that - given some notable exceptions - everyone is attempting to sell me their way to grow, to write, to sell, to build an audience. That’s what I instantly feel.

The Core of the Gospel: Faith That Saves
Ah yes, so I had a thought, since there are like a ton of denominations with each affirming or disagreeing with certain beliefs and going as far as separating from their root because they have deemed their source to be in error of some kind. So, then what exactly is the Gospel and what parts of it can we all agree is important for saving faith as Scripture prescribes?
Father, Lord, Genie God
Photo by Aaron Burden on Unsplash Robin Good · Follow 3 min read · -- We live in a transactional world, one where the principle of “I give and receive something of near or equal value” dictates much of our interactions. Whether it’s an agreement, a service rendered, or a fair exchange of goods, this mindset is pretty much a part of us. Over time, elements of this transactional thinking have crept into our relationship with God.

Curators Future in the Age of AI and Automation - CM #23
As I was writingthe last issue of Good Tools, dedicated to automation tools, I realized, more than ever before, how soon there’s going to be a time when AI and automation tools, will be able to research, organize, add value and put together a fully curated catalog or directory on just about any topic one can think of. We are not yet there, but that time is rapidly approaching. What will happen then?

RSS SEO and the Opportunity for a Major Category-Based Directory of RSS Feeds
As an entire industry has evolved around the skills and techniques required to optimize Web page content to rank as high as possible within search engine result pages (see last week's Wired article), it is likely that within the same industry traditional SEO firms (search engine optimization), along with new ones, will start addressing more specifically how to best optimize RSS feeds for search engine visibility and exposure.
Future of Education: Breaking the Connection Between Learning and Assessment
In the not-too-distant future, you will learn new key skills through free or low-cost professional online courses, available both from prestigious world-class academic institutions as well as from private experts. Companies will, in turn, tap into these new learning ecosystems and knowledge providers to discover and hire their top talent.
Online Curation: The What, Why and How
Why is content curation so important? In this video interview, I recorded with Micah Sifry, co-founder and editor of the Personal Democracy Forum; you can taste one more viewpoint and explanation of why news and content curation are becoming so important. And not only. Micah Sifry states it clearly and without any hesitation: such abundance of content and of people producing it offers great business opportunities that are yet to be discovered.
The Howard Rheingold's Interview
In this recent video interview that Howard Rheingold recorded with me, I introduce some of the basics of content curation, its role, importance, and the characteristics, traits, and tools required to do it properly. From there, I also explain the great opportunity and potential "trusted content and search curators" may have in the future of the Internet, as they may become our most trusted gateways to the information and sources we are looking for.
Why Curation Will Transform Education and Learning: 10 Key Reasons
In this article, I outline ten key factors already at work, which, among others, will very likely pave the way for much greater and rapid adoption of curation practices in the educational/academic world.
A View From the Future: Ross Dawson
What is curation? Does it really help, or is it adding more noise to the soundwave of information already coming at us? Where do you draw the line between social sharing, personal expression, and true curation? Is there one? A few weeks back, I had the opportunity to catch futurist Ross Dawson passing through Rome in between two events, and I kindly asked him if he would be willing to answer a few questions in front of my video camera.
What We Really Need To Learn To Be Successful In Life
Here are the last five ones that I have selected: Definition: Backgrounder: If you search online for " the value " or the importance of knowing how to search and look for information or real things, you will have a very hard time finding anything useful or something that even talks about this topic. Most of the information available online today relates to search engines and specifically to how to utilize them as marketing and advertising channels.
What We Really Need To Learn To Be Successful In Life
26. How to Get Buy-In How to get other people to support you and your initiatives? 27. How to Sell How to sell things in exchange for money to other people? 28. How to Be Reputable How to leverage your reputation without handicapping yourself uselessly? 29. How to Be Causative How to effectively change things? 30. How To Be In The "Here and Now" How to be fully in the present moment, and why is this so important?
What We Really Need To Learn To Be Successful In Life
Here then, a new set of life-critical skills needed to survive and thrive on this planet and which I think would be good substitutes for most of the topic areas we are forced to learn in our present-day school curriculum. This second set includes: 11. How to Ask Good Questions 12. How to Curate 13. How to Focus 14. How to Learn to Speak Other Languages 15. How to Code 16. How to Make Things (Makers) 17. How to Grow Your Own Food 18. How to Survive in the Wilderness 19. How to Provide First Aid 20.
What We Really Need To Learn To Be Successful In Life
If there were no schools and traditional academic curriculums, and one had the option to question and rethink a human being's learning curriculum, what would be in it? If we suspend momentarily the reasoning and goals that went into the creation of the present educational system, what would be the key things that an individual would really benefit from knowing in order to survive, be independent, self-sufficient, and live a meaningful life in the 21st century?

What We Really Need To Learn To Be Successful In Life - Part I
Definition: "the sense of one's own value or worth as a person" Source: The Free Dictionary "the experience of being competent to cope with the basic challenges of life and being worthy of happiness." The New Journalist Is An Information Startup
Information Entrepreneurs Most people think of a startup as a new digital venture, often financed by venture capital, which, by way of custom engineered software develops a service, solution or product to be offered and subscribed to / sold online. And, indeed, the vast majority of today startups match pretty closely the above definition. Tech startups are often built on small teams, made up mostly by tech people with refined coding, programming, interface design and prototyping skills.
Features - The Future of RSS - Is E-Mail Publishing Dead? RSS-based Information And News Feeds: Pros and Cons For Content Distribution Through RSS
RSS is good because it gives back to individual users the power to choose and select content. This, along with timeliness, portability and cost-effectiveness, are probably the best reasons why you should understand how and why RSS is going to change the way you select and receive your information, news and updates. Is RSS Going to Replace E-Mail? As my first and most immediate answer I must say that the question has been wrongly posed.
Examples of Great Content Curators
I am frequently asked if there are good examples of great content curators out there. There are probably tens of thousands of them. But the problem is that it is not easy to spot them. They are not as visible and popular as your typical social media influencer. Great content curators may not have a following nearly comparable to those of many social media influencers, but their impact can easily be much greater, deeper and longer lasting.
The Key Benefits of Content Curation – Content Curation Official Guide – Medium
Advantages of collecting, adding value and sharing with intent If you search on Google for the benefits of content curation, you will find tens of articles that praise the advantages that curation can bring to the world of marketing and specifically to the universe of content production. But besides the doubtful truthfulness of their claims, none of them, is written by a content curation expert. They are all written by “interested” parties.

Content Curation Is Not Content Marketing
To do this in effective way you need not ever forget what these people are looking for and what they really expect from anyone providing them with an answer, or you risk to be singing and applauding your song all by yourself. In other words , what you really are in the business of doing is to make sense, explain, illustrate and point to information that can help them effectively resolve their issue and to realize their goals.
Why independent research is the most important thing you can do as a reader
For the past week, media and journalism has taken a lot of heat for perpetuating the “echo chambers” of social media. And rightfully so. In the wake of this election, we now have a better understanding of just how rampant this issue was on all sides.
6. Overabundance of Disorganized and Unverified Information (search is broken)
Online search is increasingly the vehicle through which many people find out, inform themselves and learn about most things they are interested in. Although its commercial interests, profit-driven business model, secretive approach, and some of its technology limitations would really not suggest to leave that much power to Google, many of our information decisions are influenced, if not altogether driven by what this search engine suggests back to anyone of our queries.

The Future Of Content Curation Tools - Part I
To illustrate what I expect to see on this front, here is a panoramic tour of the traits, features, patterns and trends that I expect will characterize the future of digital content curation tools, organized into specific feature areas. Enormous progress has been made since the early days of the first news curation tools to what is available today, but yet, I feel we have only barely scratched the surface.
