Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I never have, but I'm not saying I never will! I'd love the chance to write a story on a typewriter - I'm a bit of an old soul.

How is social media changing news?

Social media helps journalists produce news quicker than ever before. It also helps readers consume news faster, and more frequently.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

Hard to say it's truthfully funny, but #fakenews can be used by trolls in situations that aren't necessarily warranted.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter - primarily, for its sports content.

Why did you become a journalist?

I love sports, and I wanted to stay as close to the game as possible after ending my football career. I also love to write and ask questions.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I was too busy playing sports in high school, so I never had the chance to work for my school's newspaper (tbh, I'm not sure we even had one)

When's the best time to pitch you?

I'm always open to hearing potential story ideas, especially out of the blue. Sometimes the best stories come from the least expected places.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

I typically do the pitching, so I cannot say for certain.

What's your favorite drink?

Either a vanilla bean JYM protein shake, or a giant bottle of CORE water.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Outside, either hiking, swimming or shooting hoops, or at the gym lifting weights. If I'm not there, I could be at the movies or eating food!
