INTRODUCTION Rabies is a fatal zoonotic disease caused by a neurotropic virus belonging to the genus Lyssavirus, family Rhabdoviridae. Rabies virus (RABV) affects the central nervous system in mammals, and is transmitted through bites or scratches from infected animals [1]. Rabies has a worldwide distribution, and Asia and Africa are the most affected continents.
