What was your first job as a journalist?
My first job in media was working as an independent commercial photographer. I later became interested in writing about local news.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, when learning how to type many years ago. I miss the sound of a typewriter. It also provides a distraction-free zone.

Social Media allows news to provide live updates on stories that matter to the community - interacting in real time.

What does it mean to be a journalist?
Listening, summarizing the facts and telling a story that reaches the heart and evokes emotion - hopefully action.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I prefer to be pitched by email in the morning. Please provide story details at least two weeks before the event if possible.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Apple's MacBook Pro, iPhone Pro Max, iPad Pro, Series 7 watch and the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and many other mobile applications.

I am currently enjoying the reach of LinkedIn.
Who do you wish followed you?
I don't. My network is constantly growing and I organically attract the people I need to know and collaborate with.
Why did you become a journalist?
I am a storyteller. I love people and I want to make sure they have the facts they need to make informed decisions.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No, but I did work at my college print shop.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I am proud of writing stories that inform, educate and provide opportunities for my community. My techonology articles help new journalists.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Keep learning, keep creating, and don't compare yourself to others. Define what success looks like for you.
