Quick, if you’re a sports fan, name your favorite play-by-play announcer. Maybe it’s Joe Bowen or the late Rick Jeanneret in hockey, or Dan Schulman in baseball. Well now it’s your chance to make your best call – announcing Slo-Pitch. This August, Niagara will welcome some of Canada’s top slo-pitch athletes as the 2026 Slo-Pitch National Championships come to our region—and Sport Niagara in conjunction with Slo-Pitch Ontario is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help bring the action to life.

For weeks we heard about former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner being the NHL playoff most valuable player with the Vegas Golden Knights, or that the ‘generational’ Victor Wembenyama  was going to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a championship. Both were wrong.

For the second time in 2026, the Brock University Badges will induct influential figures who have helped shape sport across Canada and in the Niagara region. Following a ceremony held in April, the University will honour a new group of inductees to the Badgers Hall of Fame this Sunday, June 14, celebrating their legacy in sport at Brock and beyond.
