Maternal over-the-counter analgesics use during pregnancy and adverse perinatal outcomes: cohort study of 151 141 singleton pregnancies

Results Overall, from the total 151 141 pregnancies across 30 years in 107 143 (70.9%) pregnancies, no over-the-counter analgesic consumption was reported. At least one over-the-counter analgesic was consumed in 43 998 (29.1%) pregnancies, whereas paracetamol use alone was reported in 24 099 (18.4%) pregnancies. Diclofenac use was observed in 20.0% of pregnancies in the 10-year period when diclofenac was available over-the-counter (without prescription).
