RBI tightens Risk Norms; Draft raises Housing Loan Limits for RCBs

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has proposed a comprehensive overhaul of lending and concentration risk norms for Rural Co-operative Banks (RCBs), tightening prudential safeguards while providing greater flexibility in housing finance. The central bank on Thursday released two draft Directions for public comments, with the revised framework proposed to come into effect from April 1, 2027.

Newly elected NCUI Governing Council member Annasaheb Jolle met Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah at Parliament House on Thursday and invited him to inaugurate the newly constructed head office building of Shri Beereshwar Co-operative Credit Society at Examba in Belagavi district, Karnataka. Jolle was accompanied by his wife, Shashikala Jolle, MLA from Nipani, during the meeting.
