Image-guided orbital surgery: a preclinical validation study using a high-resolution physical model

Discussion Our study used five patient-specific high-resolution 3D-printed skull models to measure and assess the feasibility and accuracy of EM-IGS navigation in orbital surgery in a preclinical setting. Surgeons of varying expertise level were able to achieve the lowest system-generated prediction registration error (1.1 mm in this study) in the majority of trials. More senior surgeons achieved better registration results, with fewer attempts.
