The role of carers is crucial if older person living with dementia are to stay at home for as long as possible. We identified barriers to carer capacity to provide care due to difficulties managing deteriorating symptoms, changing behaviors, and accessing services. As dementia progresses, there was a lack of support to make decision and progress transition to a residential aged care facility.
