Abstract Taper is an important component of race preparation in swimming but often misunderstood by athletes and coaches. Thus, through a multi-phase qualitative investigation, we aimed to examine swimmers’ and coaches’ understanding and psychological experience (i.e., thoughts, feelings, and behaviors) associated with taper.

Abstract Vpr is a conserved primate lentiviral accessory protein that induces cell cycle arrest in G2. The precise mechanism of this arrest and its benefit to viral replication is unknown. Here, we show that in addition to G2 arrest, Vpr from HIV-1/SIVcpz and HIV-2 lineages separately induce mitotic arrest through the spindle assembly checkpoint, in contrast to other Vpr proteins that only cause G2 arrest.
ORF6 inhibits the nuclear export of IFN-upregulated mRNA As many mRNA were retained in the nucleus, we decided to investigate whether genes with potential anti-viral functions were among them. Firstly, we identified potential ISGs in our dataset by determining which mRNA species were upregulated by IFN-β treatment in cells transfected with our control plasmid (S5A Fig). We found 134 mRNAs species that were significantly upregulated in either the cytoplasm and/or nucleus after IFN-β treatment.
