Singapore is one of the greatest cities in the world for food. Sometimes it feels like eating is the national pastime. And there's so many ways to eat: in fancy tasting menu spots, at sidewalk cafes, and of course, at the legendary, sprawling hawker centers that play home to some of the very best dishes in Singapore.

Along Duxton's shophouse district of wine bars and cafes, Marcy's low lights and soft, disco-y playlist are tailor-made for a relaxed date night. On the surface, the menu is Italian, but there's a fair bit of Latin going on here-expect lots of raw seafood and citrus to cut through the richness.

Shao @ Frankel started as a little takeaway in Essex before it moved to Singapore, but it still feels humble and intimate. The food is classic Teochew done with finesse, particularly their Shao Signature BBQ Roe Crab, where flower crab is glazed in a rich, umami sauce with a tangy chili dip on the side. Before getting there, start with the pan-seared Hokkaido cuttlefish, a smoky sausage stained with squid ink, and briny drunken cockles to brighten your taste buds.
