New figures show that BAME people in England and Wales are disproportionately often dying with coronavirus. Together Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) groups make up only 13% of the UK population. At a much lower percentage and in a category of their own Black people are 3% of the overall UK population and are 4 times more likely to contract coronavirus.

The Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) have experienced a threefold increase of people wanting to sit licensing exams since the goverment rules on lockdown. Finding new ways to interact and keep connected during the pandemic is proving to be successful. The RSGB describes amateur radio as a “hobby for people who want to learn about, use and experiment with wireless communications”.

Lockdown has caused a rise in homelessness amongst young LGBTQ+ people according to a BBC Three investigation. Despite the UK Government, instructing councils to take in the homeless amid lockdown, there are a number of queer youth’s not being counted for, leaving them to sofa surf across the country. Research from Akt and YouGov shows that one quarter of young queer people face homelessness in the UK. Within that figure, studies show that 61% are people of colour, and this rises to 79% in London.
