Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I was born in 1954. Of course I've used a typewriter. A manual typewriter. Mom gave it away in 1972 and I still miss it.

How is social media changing news?

If it weren't for social media, I don't think we'd have President Trump.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email me at roswarrenATgmail.com

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I regret that I didn't. I was too busy reading science fiction.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My NYTimes essay about our 16YO Bichon's emergency surgery went viral, and to this day I get thank you letters from dog owners about it.

When's the best time to pitch you?

When I'm awake?

What's your favorite drink?

Coffee. Favorite drink is an understatement. Favorite craving/addiction/reason to live would be more accurate.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

I'm always at a computer. (If not in real life, then in my head. My brain is always writing something, even in my sleep.)

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

New York Magazine.
