Viral metagenomic analysis reveals potential biological hazards in non‐human primates in a zoo
INTRODUCTION Emerging infectious diseases are largely of zoonotic origin and can have a significant impact on public health and the global economy. Non-human primates (NHPs), the closest relatives of humans on the evolutionary tree, are susceptible to human viruses. In fact, Zika virus, yellow fever virus, and dengue virus [1, 2] are just some of the pathogens that have been determined to circulate between NHPs and humans.
Recombinant production of SAG1 fused with xylanase in Pichia pastoris induced higher protective immunity against Eimeria tenella infection in chicken
INTRODUCTION Chicken coccidiosis, an intestinal disease caused by Eimeria parasites, seriously compromises the feed utilization and growth of chickens and is responsible for major economic losses of the poultry industry (Blake et al., 2020; Blake & Tomley, 2014; Shirley et al., 2005). Up to now, anti-coccidial drugs and live or attenuated parasite vaccines are available to control the occurrence and outbreaks of coccidiosis (Taylor et al., 2022).
A Glimpse of the Peptide Profile Presentation by Xenopus laevis MHC Class I: Crystal Structure of pXela-UAA Reveals a Distinct Peptide-Binding Groove
Open Access Lizhen Ma, Nianzhi Zhang, Zehui Qu, Ruiying Liang, Lijie Zhang, Bing Zhang, Geng Meng, Johannes M. Dijkstra, Shen Li and Max Chun Xia J Immunol January 1, 2020, 204 (1) 147-158; DOI: https://doi.org/10.4049/jimmunol.1900865 Key Points pXela-UAAg is the first structure of an amphibian classical MHC-I molecule. The A pocket is the largest and the C–F pockets are positively charged in pXela-UAAg. The AB loop of pXela-UAAg reveals a unique shape for binding β2m in nonmammals.
