Abstract Medication adherence is critical for outpatients with mental disorders, yet previous research in China has relied predominantly on quantitative surveys that have overlooked experiential and contextual factors. This mixed-methods study quantified adherence levels and associated factors, while exploring patients’ and caregivers’ perceived barriers and facilitators. A total of 546 valid responses were collected (294 male, 252 female; age range 18–87 years).
