1 Introduction The pig industry in Nepal has experienced steady growth over the past decade, driven by rising pork demand and its role as a critical source of livelihood for marginalized communities. As of 2023, the estimated pig population in Nepal was 1.35 million raised by 0.42 million holdings (MOALD 2024). The majority of farmers in Nepal raise pigs in scavenging systems and backyard farming, with only a few farms raising pigs in semi-intensive and intensive systems (Pant 2017).
