Jev is Vercel’s fastest-adopted AI model ever Original
Jev has become the fastest adopted AI model ever — at least by some measures. Vercel data published on Thursday shows that, within two weeks of its launch, the buzzy decision model was being used by 35% of paid teams, with nearly double the reach of the second most popular model, Sonnet 5.5. It’s the fastest adoption a model has ever seen in its first two weeks, according to Vercel’s data, and a major accomplishment for the model’s creators, TypeSafe AI.

Meta releases its first frontier model, Muse Wonder
Where Muse Spark aimed to be a lightweight model that could perform at low latency, the Wonder models are larger and said to be more capable, with higher benchmark scores and better results on complex tasks like coding. According to Meta’s testing (presented in the model card), Wonder and Wonder Full achieve comparable benchmark scores to Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra.

Danu Robotics’ fight to build a better recycling robot
For Danu Robotics founder Amy Ma, the eureka moment came after years of working as a software developer at a London bank. It was the kind of high-touch office that’s typical in finance — but despite all the perks, Ma was alarmed to realize that the building’s recycling bins were being emptied into the trash. “Even though they have tons of money, there’s all these different recycling bins that just end up in the same place,” Ma told TechCrunch.

A16z’s Olivia Moore on the state of consumer AI Original
Olivia Moore covers consumer AI as a partner at Andreessen Horowitz – and on Monday, she released a report on the top 100 consumer AI apps. ChatGPT is still the biggest player by a mile, but smaller players like Suno and ElevenLabs are showing real staying power. Even more interesting is what we don’t see, as Moore’s report details half a dozen consumer categories that seem to be completely untouched by AI.

Anthropic changes usage policy to ban model abuse and election interference
Anthropic updated its usage policy on Thursday, codifying new prohibitions on election interference, weapons software, and surveillance. But perhaps the most attention-getting change is a new prohibition against prolonged verbal abuse of the model, which is now expressly forbidden. Since an update in August, Claude has been trained to end conversations with “persistently harmful or abusive user interactions” — but the new policy explicitly bars users from pursuing those conversations.
How AI decision models could change content moderation
As decision models spread across the industry, a company called Musubi has a new idea for how to put them to work: moderating content. On Tuesday, Musubi announced a lightweight decision model made for real-time moderation called PolicyLM-1.7B, released with open weights. The idea is to take a content policy written in plain English and apply it to messages in under 50 milliseconds.

Researchers are tracking a Chinese AI ‘agent fleet’
A new fleet of AI agents is making its presence felt on the Internet. On Sunday, a group of independent researchers , observing that they seem to be running on Tencent’s infrastructure and targeting Alibaba’s map service, Amap. Researchers, however, resisted the term “swarm,” noting that there seems to be little coordination between their different queries.

Opus 5.5 loves to tell you ‘this matters’ (and other AI writing tells)
Now that LLM-generated prose is everywhere, human beings are eager for ways to sniff it out. While early tells like em-dashes and “delve” are long gone, researchers say there are still plenty of telltale habits that AI models fall back on when writing prose. A new study from the marketing firm Graphite looked at the writing habits of frontier models, sussing out each model’s favorite words and phrases.

The ugly economics of consumer AI Original
After this week, you could argue that consumer AI is making a comeback. Meta’s personal AI assistant, Muse, and its plush-like mascot Jolly, has been a surprise hit. OpenAI’s Dots, released just yesterday, appears to be chasing the same cartoony personal assistant idea. And the up-and-coming Instinct assistant reached a $10 billion valuation on the strength of its agentic errand-running, focused on booking travel, making restaurant reservations or cancelling subscriptions.

OpenAI still doesn’t seem to have a handle on all of its rogue AI activity
On Friday, OpenAI published a new site devoted to “misalignment reports” and the sheer breadth of the reports is alarming, as they cover many types of rogue behavior over a long period of time. So far, the site hosts nine reported incidents, most of which took place during reinforcement-learning (or RL) training.

Anthropic releases Opus 5.5 with lower prices and Fable-level performance
Anthropic’s newest model, Opus 5.5, was released on Tuesday, setting a new state-of-the-art in coding and knowledge work performance. Notably, the release outpaces the larger Fable model in many benchmarks, and succeeded in a number of informal tasks that Fable failed to complete. In the announcement, Anthropic called Opus 5.5 “the strongest-performing model we’ve tested to date.” The new model is also significantly cheaper than its predecessor.

With Tabby, a former accountant is using AI to make accountants obsolete
In May of 2025, Ahad Ali was a successful accountant, overseeing a team of 20 people and handling more than 2,000 returns a year. “We did bookkeeping, accounting, sales tax, taxes, everything,” Ali says. It was a stable business, and one that would have been easy to stay in. But Ali started to notice something. His work was increasingly dictated by the frictions of accounting software, which was rarely designed with actual accountants in mind.

This week, I moderated a panel on world models at the All In conference (no relation to the podcast), and it gave me a chance to dig into one of the most mysterious corners of the AI world. The big players in the space are Yann LeCun’s AMI Labs and Fei-Fei Li’s World Labs — and while both have accumulated a lot of buzz and funding, they also rank pretty low on the trying-to-make-money scale.
