Whitewater had put out 12 different pitchers, not one pitching more than 5 outs. Outfielder Jacob DeMeyer opened up the game with a two-run rocket over the wall.
'The best decision I ever made'
Ryan Baker, Mens Sports Editor It’s been a crazy couple of years. I came into the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater two years ago not knowing a single soul. I was mainly online my first year, and wasn’t involved on campus because I didn’t live in the city. Starting this past year was just like starting at a completely new school. I found the Royal Purple, the ultimate frisbee team, and started to strengthen relationships with professors.
Training champions
Ryan Baker, Men’s Sports Assistant Editor Track and field assistant coach Jeff Miller has been coaching at UW-Whitewater since the fall of 1982. Not only does he oversee the distance runners for track and field, but he is also the head coach for both the men’s and women’s cross country teams. Tragedy, adversity and a bittersweet ending
Tragedy, struggles on the court and adversity all stared the UW-Whitewater Men’s Basketball team right in the eyes all season. Before the season had begun, in July of 2022, tragedy struck the entire city of Whitewater, more so to the basketball team. Just after his 20th birthday, basketball player Derek Gray died unexpectedly due to a blood clot in his heart while working at a Whitewater youth basketball camp.
Cinderella run falls short
Happy First Day of Spring! Ryan Baker, Men’s Sports Assistant Editor March madness. Madness couldn’t be more of a perfect description of how the UW-Whitewater Warhawks scratched and clawed their way to the semifinal game of the big dance. The underdog mentality was adopted throughout this entire tournament for head coach Pat Miller’s squad. There were no predictions, no rankings, and no speculation that had Whitewater making it as far as they did. “I’m really proud of these guys.
Baseball leader looks to keep hot bat
Ryan Baker, Men’s Sports Assistant Editor Matt Korman has been a Warhawk for longer than most students at UW-Whitewater. He is entering his fifth season on the field for Warhawk baseball and he’s hoping to continue doing what he was doing with the bat in Whitewater’s playoff campaign. The outfielder has played since he could swing a bat and chose baseball rather than football or basketball when he elected to come to UWW. Q: Was there a moment you figured out baseball was your sport?
A new wave at UWW Swim & Dive
Celebrate Women's History Month Ryan Baker, Men’s Sports Assistant Editor A fourth place finish at the WIAC conferences championships may not have been the most ideal way to end the season for the UW-Whitewater Men’s Swim and Dive team. However, there were glimpses not only at conferences but all season long. There’s a new wave incoming for the Swim and Dive team, and it’s coming fast.

The toughest season yet
Celebrate Black History Month! Brotherly love of the game
Ryan Baker, Men’s Sports Assistant Editor Brotherhood. That seems to be the theme at UW-Whitewater. Warhawk sports have been home to some of the most ferocious sister and brother duos playing sports at the collegiate level together. Whether it be on the same team or playing different sports, UWW always has the chance to let siblings showcase that last name on the back of their jerseys. In 2022, Whitewater has four brother duos that play on the same team together in their respective sports.

Head coach John Vodenlich speaks about their limited fall practices, the roster forming, and how they are going to look in the spring. Q: What are the fall activities?
Ultimate frisbee brings home first trophy since 2018
Ultimate Frisbee Championship Ryan Baker, Men’s Sports Assistant Editor SubPar is the name of UW-Whitewater’s very own ultimate frisbee program. A program that plays at a Division I level and one that has not brought home a first place trophy in four years. Well, all that changed on the weekend of Oct. 15 and 16, when they trounced their way through the Windy City tournament held in Rockford, Ill.

New players, same success
Let's celebrate Indigenous people! Ryan Baker, Men’s Sports Assistant Editor Many offenses crumble as soon as one or two of their top players leave their program, however it is the complete opposite for the UW-Whitewater offense this year. Not only have they been producing more than almost any Warhawk offense to date, but they lost ten starters. Eleven start, ten are new and that is a recipe for disaster, most times.

Seizing every opportunity
Congrats Warhawk Football on the big win! Ryan Baker, Men’s Sports Assistant Editor Gunner Schlender is entering his second year at UW-Whitewater and is looking to be more of a leader for the reputable men’s cross country team. Being at the front of a young crew that includes fourteen freshmen brings potential to the program, but without much experience it does provide some challenges. “This year it’s more of an upperclassmen role, especially with all of the freshmen.
